Hi I'm Merrilee

I grew up in Utah, I sing opera, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love my family! I am one of twelve children, and as one of the oldest, I help out a lot at home. I love cooking. I love music. I play the piano, viola, violin, and my favorite- sing! I have been a part of Allstate Choirs, State Honor Choirs, and have received awards for musical theater and solos. I love singing opera and, I am majoring in vocal performance. I love sports and will play just about anything. I'm a lover of photography. I was a member of my school's yearbook staff my junior and senior year.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an LDS family and have been a member of the church my whole life. I developed a testimony of my own gradually as I attended church each week, including primary and later young women's. As I read the scriptures and prayed regularly, I felt the spirit testify that I was doing the things Christ would have me do. As I entered high school, I helped my testimony to grow by enrolling in Seminary. I was blessed to have the opportunity to take time out of my school day to feel the spirit and learn more about the gospel. I love the blessings of the gospel in my life, and I know that they come from our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, who love us and want the best for us. I am thankful for the atonement, and for the opportunity we have to repent and draw nearer to our Savior. I love my Heavenly Father and my Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ. I know that this is their gospel, and that they want us to be near to them. I am grateful to know that through the blessings of the temple I can be with my family forever.

How I live my faith

For a lot of people, salvation is characterized by a singular event or a big life changing moment. For me, it is a life long process and a joyful journey. Imagine the stress of trying to become perfect in an instant. Whew! Sounds exhausting. I'm taking it one step, one day, at a time. And with the help of my Savior, each day I'm a little closer to my end destination- back with Him and our Heavenly Father. A few things that help me each day: serving others, studying the scriptures, sincere prayer, and spending time with my family.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

God is our loving Heavenly Father. We were created in his image, and someday we will be resurrected with perfected bodies like he now has. He sent us to this earth to find joy and wants us all to live worthily to return to live with him. He is merciful and just. He knows us all individually and loves us personally. Show more Show less
