Hi I'm Katie

I grew up in Portland, Oregon. I am a mother of three little girls. I'm a stylist and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My life is pretty crazy right now. During the day I'm home with my three daughters (4, 3, and 1 1/2) and at night I work part time in a salon. The schedule is crazy sometimes with a family, but I love helping people feel beautiful and confident. I love hiking and exploring and being active. I take the girls everywhere for adventures.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this is the true church. I know that God knows who I am. I know that He knows me by name and He knows all of my struggles and sorrows as well as my strengths. I know that His Son is Jesus Christ and that He lives. I know that Christ not only suffered for my sins, but He also felt every pain, sorrow, and care that I may have. Because of Him, we can return to live with God again. Because of Him, I can be a better person. My testimony is centered on our Savior, Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because the Church and its' Gospel draws me closer to Christ.

How I live my faith

Sometimes it's hard to balance a family, career, and church. Finding small and simple ways to serve whether in the community or with the church helps me feel balanced and closer to my Savior. I don't have a ton of extra time, but I'm pretty great with freezer meals and take those to families that could use a meal. I try to set a good example of service for my kids and get them involved with little projects too. Once we took cookies and a thank you card to the local fire station. Only 2 firemen were actually paid, the rest of the crew were all volunteer firefighters. My girls still remember and talk about that experience.

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Our family isn't exactly traditional. I work outside the home part time as a stylist. We felt that was right for our family, rather than having me home all of the time. We both provide financially and other wise. As a team, we lead our home together. We have a family night once a week and take turns planning different aspects including a simple Gospel lesson to teach our children, an activity, and a treat. I don't feel like either my husband or myself is primarily responsible for any single thing. We both have our strengths and use them to complement each other. Being members of the church helps unite our family and share in the responsibilities. Show more Show less
