Hi I'm Taylor Alice Doty

I'm a small town girl, I'm a dancer, I read way too many books, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have recently been called to serve as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Illinois Chicago West Mission! I am an avid fan of sunflowers, Harry Potter, dancing in the rain (or anywhere really), Cheetos, the ocean, broadway musicals, the color purple, pretty sunsets, Justin Bieber, and of course the Book of Mormon. :)

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in a small Utah town, I have been privileged enough to have been born into the LDS church and to have grown up being constantly surrounded by others of the same beliefs and standards as me. For most of my life I never really had a testimony of my own because I never had any experiences that made me question my faith or shake my testimony. I was just kind of floating through life relying on my parents or my friends testimonies instead of building up a testimony of my own. I was sixteen years old when I had my first real test of faith and let me tell you there is no way I would've passed that test on my own if it wasn't for our loving and merciful Savior. He has saved me time and time again and He is the foundation upon which my testimony was finally built. Since then my testimony has grown more and more each day and I am constantly finding new reasons to become more fully converted to the gospel. I have learned that although there are MANY things that make me happy, nothing compare to infinite happiness that comes from the gospel of Jesus Christ. I love this gospel with my whole heart and I know without a shadow of a doubt that this is the true church.

How I live my faith

As earlier stated I have been called to serve as a missionary where I will be teaching people every single day about our Savior Jesus Christ and inviting others to come unto Him. When I think about what my life is going to be like as a full-time missionary, my heart wants to explode out of my chest with excitement. The gospel is the source of light in my life and all I want to do is share that light with every single one of God's children.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Taylor Alice Doty
No all Mormons are not required to serve a mission, but it is strongly recommended for all worthy and able 18 year old males to go and encouraged for worthy and able 19 year old females to go. Seniors who are retired are also encouraged to go if they are able. Even though you can be called as a full-time missionary if you fit any of the above criteria, you do not have to wear a name tag to be a missionary. Anyone who shares their testimony of the church, whether it be through their example of living Christlike attributes or by proclaiming it boldly, they are considered a missionary. One of my favorite quotes is, "preach the gospel at all times and when necessary use words." It isn't hard to be a missionary and whether you have a mission call or not you can preach the gospel at all times just through your words and actions. Nobody serves a mission because they are required to, we serve missions because we love our Savior and we want to serve him. Full-time missionary or not we all have the same goal, to bring others unto Christ. Show more Show less
