Hi I'm Alan

I am a husband. I am a father. I'm a Mormon

About Me

My wife and I have eight sons. We had a blast raising them. They are all married now and have families of their own. My wife and I are now leaving home for two years for mission service. We will be working in the in the service of our fellow beings. You can read a great discourse from an ancient prophet about service. You will find this discourse in the Book of Mormon in the chapter named Mosiah. Read the whole chapter, but specifically Mosiah chapter 2 verse 17. Then you will know why we will leave our home and family for two years.

Why I am a Mormon

My family of origin were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when I was born. I grew up a Mormon. Even though I grew up learning the principles and the doctrines of the Mormon church I had to gain my own understanding or testimony of the truth and light found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This testimony or understanding came to me as I participated and served in the church. As I read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it. If you will read the Book of Mormon and pray about its truth the Spirit of God will manifest that truth to you as well. I ask you to give it a try. You will like what you find.

How I live my faith

At the present time I serve in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in several different ways. First I work on a personal level to obey Gods laws known as the 10 commandments. Then I work on my personal relationship with God, my Heavenly Father. I do this by praying, reading His Holy words, family togetherness and attending church meetings. Recently I have been more focused on keeping the Sabbath Day Holy. I have specific jobs or callings in my home church area. The boundaries of this church area are called a ward. I help our ecclesiastical leaders by serving and helping a Bishop, by looking after our church building to make sure it is safe and well maintained and by helping single members of the church that are 31 years of age or older. When my wife and I leave for our mission service we will help and serve in a different place far from our home. The place will be different but as you read in Mosiah chapter 2 verse 17 the work will be on the same plain
