Hi I'm Chris

I'm a wife, a mother of 6, and grandmother of 22, a daughter, and a child of God. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Ever since my husband finished graduate school, I have concentrated on raising our six children. In my spare time I have enjoyed volunteering in different ways. I have helped at the schools my children were at, been an aide for Headstart and kindergarten, been a Cub Scout leader, worked as a cashier and food server in an LDS temple, and just recently trained others to arbitrate for the Family Search Indexing program. I love to cook, can and preserve food, garden, and work in our yard. I also enjoy reading, walking every day, and travelling with my husband. We recently spent part of 2 summers cooking for an Alaskan fishing lodge. But my true love is for my family. My father passed away this year and so I, along with my siblings, have been a care giver for my mother, who lives close by and is homebound. I love spending time with my husband, our children and their spouses, and our grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I have tried to read from the Bible or Book of Mormon every day, which has brought me such comfort and guidance. I know these books are inspired from God. When I have been troubled, I have been able to go to the Lord in prayer, and he has always helped me. I know, through the Holy Ghost, that He loves me and every person on this earth. He wants us to return to Him, and wants to help us on our way in this life. He doesn't expect us to be perfect (thankfully!) but wants me to keep trying and never give up. As I serve Him and others around me, I feel His Spirit more and more. I am so thankful for His guidance to me and my family throughout this life. Following His plan brings me such happiness. I love my Heavenly Father and His Son, my Savior.

How I live my faith

I have always enjoyed serving in our local LDS ward. For the last four years I have been the Nursery leader, which is a class for children 18 months to 3 years of age, and is held during the adult classes on Sunday. This last year my husband has been serving with me, and we have really enjoyed these little children. I have worked with the young women, adult women, and last summer I was in charge of the area young women camp. I love to serve because I love my Savior, and want to do whatever I can to help build His kingdom. I have also made lasting friends as I have served with them.
