Hi I'm Christina

I grew up as the second of ten children in central California. I am a missionary in Lithuania. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a full time missoinary for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in Vilnius, Lithuania. I speak Russian, I'm learning a little bit of Lithuanian while I am here, and it is so much fun. I love to meet new people, make new friends, talk with them about how I have come to find peace and joy through the gospel, and how everyone can find greater hope through Christ. Being here as a volunteer is so much fun, but it isn't easy. I was a student at Brigham Young University before coming here and am studying communication disorders. Especially as I have tried to learn new languages and talk to people from all over the world I have learned that we all have the same needs and desires, and that it is important to be heard and understood. Language is very important, and I want to help others to be able to speak their minds and hearts. When I return home after my mission I will continue my education. I also love my family more than anything. I am the second of ten children (my youngest sister is only 2), and I loved growing up in such an amazing family. I miss them, and it can be hard to be so far away as they are growing up and learning at home, and I am excited to go home and see them all again. I've been gone for about 16 months. I have learned so much here in Vilnius, though, and wouldn't miss this experience for the world. A couple other things, I love making bread! I love trying new recipes cooking and baking, and I love soup. I also love being a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love it. I know that the gospel is true, and that all things are possible through Christ. He has helped me through all things, he knows what I have been through, and I can feel his love for me. I know that he has a great love for everyone, and will reach toward and bless those that come unto him. Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, I know that I can be forgiven of my sins and become clean. The atonement helps me to become a better person, and it strengthens me throughout each day. I love the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because of its focus on family. The family is central to God's plan, and it is designed to make us happy. While attending school I am living away from my family, but I know that wherever I go, I will always be able to find a ward family. I have made great friends through attending church on Sundays, through activities, and through visiting teaching. The church offers an amazing support network and helps remind each member that they are loved by others, and especially by our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ. We have their word through the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I know that the Book of Mormon is true, and was translated by the prophet Joseph Smith in our day. It is a record of the prophets and people of the Americas much like the Bible. The prophets who wrote the Book of Mormon saw our day, and have guidance and counsel specifically for us. As I read their words I can find answers to help me through my daily life, and I can feel of their truth. Jesus Christ loves all of his people, and I know that I have been blessed to come to know of the truth of this gospel, and that as I always strive to keep the commandments I will continue to be blessed.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending my church meetings and participating in ward activities. I have made great friends through visiting teaching. It is a blessing to find friends that have my same values, and then for us to be able to serve each other and feel comfortable discussing gospel topics and sharing truths that we have learned. I know that this, and the other programs that have been given to us are inspired of God. The church is the organization and unity of followers of Christ. I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is for everyone, and that because I have the gospel, and have been blessed to know of its truth, I have a responsibility to share it with others. Christ extends his invitation to all, and sometimes that happens through us. I will be going on a mission for 18 months to share this precious gospel with others, and I am very excited to be able to learn another language that will help me to serve God's children that live in different places of the world. The gospel has a great focus on service, and following Christ in this regard. I am grateful for the opportunities that I have to serve others and for the strength that I find through this.
