Hi I'm Katie

I’m a student, I’m a liberal, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a student at a University. I am currently studying history education and music. My job is to teach two year olds at a day care, and I love it! My whole life is working and school work but I don’t mind. I love being in school. I am a very liberal person politically, and very politically active.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in a Mormon home. When my parents got divorced when I was 8 my dad left the church. My mom remarried a wonderful man who has made an effort to help me in my life. This created two households that I grew up in. My houses were very different. I always felt angry and sad when I was with my dad. My mom and stepdad’s house was happy and calm. It was a direct result of the difference the spirit makes in a home. I still struggled with my testimony however and became less active in the church until I was 16. I took a religious class and decided to read the Book of Mormon. After I finished it for the first time I knew the church was true. I’ve had a testimony ever since. If I didn’t have the realization that the church was true and if I didn’t experience life without the spirit I wouldn’t be Mormon. It isn’t always easy. The world makes it hard to be faithful, but the church is true. The Church is true and I can’t deny it. I’m not Mormon because it’s popular or easy, I’m Mormon because I know that it’s true. Because the Book of Mormon is of God.

How I live my faith

Currently I serve as the Compasionate service individual in my are. My job is to notice the people in my ward. If they are sick, injured, or just having a bad day I try to lift them up. Sometimes by texting or giving them a call. Other times I go shopping and bring them a treat or send them a letter. I love serving people who I live so closely with. It help me to feel closer to Christ.
