Hi I'm Heather Whitney

I am a shy, introverted girl who grew up in the hot valley of Arizona. I love my Savior Jesus Christ, and I AM a Mormon.

About Me

I am no one special!!! I love singing, although to sing in front of crowds is extrememly hard. I really want to develop my skills with a camera. I enjoy school more than is probably healthy. I love experimenting with new recipes and putting my own twist on them. New foods are my passion!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, but I am 18, and I could leave if I wanted to. I don't leave because I know that it is true. I know that the Book of Mormon is really an ancient record that was translated by Joseph Smith. I know Jesus is the Christ, my Savior, and Redeemer. I know God has called President Thomas S. Monsen to be his mouthpeice at this time on earth! I don't leave, because to do so would be to deny what I know to be true.

How I live my faith

I have been called to serve in the Fort Lauderdale Florida mission. I am called to teach the Gospel in the Spanish language. I don't know how to speak Spanish! But I am excited to learn, and share what I know to be true with the people in Florida!

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Heather Whitney
I have felt the blessings of peace and comfort through reading the scriptures. I have had prayers answered as I open those pages, and certain passages will answer the questions that weigh heavily on my mind. Scriptures are a great source of direction in my life. I believe those words should be as important to us as they would be if we were to hear them spoken by the mouth of God himself. Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

Heather Whitney
The priesthood is the power to act in God's name. One must be worthy to use the priesthood, and if a man becomes unworthy, this power is no longer with him. Although the priesthood is only conferred upon men, I do not believe God loves men more than women or that the church leaders are sexsist. It is simply their duty here on earth to use this power to bless the lives of others, just as it is the power of the woman alone to bring God's children into the world. The roles of men and women are not the same, but they are complementary. Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Heather Whitney
Family is one of the only things that we can keep with us after this life! In temples, families can be sealed together for time and all eternity. In this way, links are made through generation after generation. I am sealed to my parents, and they are both sealed to their parents. Likewise, I wish to someday be sealed to my future eternal companion, and bring children into the world to love throughout all eternity! Show more Show less
