Hi I'm Michael, sometimes Mike

I am a husband, father and grandfather.I am a retired educator I am a lifelong "Mormon"

About Me

I have been married for almost 40 years to a very lovely woman. We have 6 grown children and 20 grandchildren My family is very important and we enjoy doing things together, sharing holidays and celebrating together. I enjoy drawing and painting, gardening, family history, cooking and playing with the grandchildren. We have done some traveling together notably to the east coast of the United States, Hawaii, the western states, Mexico and Ireland. I have done some volunteer work and enjoy meeting new people. I am a "talker" and enjoy conversing with others and learning about them. Having studied Spanish and attending school in Mexico, I speak, read and write Spanish and have enjoyed in communicating with people who also speak Spanish.

Why I am a Mormon

Although a lifelong Mormon, I too had to gain a testimony that the church is true. Life is not easy, and have relied heavily upon divine help and guidance. I know God hears and answers prayers. I am thankful that my parents and grandparents taught me correct principles and were examples of what they taught. I have been blessed to have always had faith and a witness of God's love and know that Jesus is the Christ, the Savior and Redeemer of all mankind. The scriptures continue to reveal God's word as I read and study. I have had the privilege of meeting several church leaders, personally listening to them and know that they are men of God. I have felt the Holy Ghost bear witness of their authority, the truthfulness of their teaching and know them to be humble servants of the Lord. I am grateful we have a living prophet and apostles to guide us. I am blessed to have the Priesthood of God conferred upon me. I am thankful to have been called as a missionary. The church offers us so many opportunities to grow and develop and I have been greatly blessed. My family has been directly blessed by church activity and the teachings of the church have helped me to raise my family, to avoid the problems of the world and to constantly improve.

How I live my faith

Living my religion is very important. Attending church regularly helps me to constantly be aware of my covenants and obligations as a church member. I love the scriptures and enjoy learning in Sunday School. I have also served in various positions in church which have reinforced my faith and conviction. Experiences and challenges in life have caused me to seek direction from my Heavenly Father. I am thankful my church teaches me to love and serve my fellow man and to follow the example of Jesus Christ. I know that I have received many blessings and have received spiritual confirmation of my church activity. I have had the opportunity to teach gospel lessons to children, youth, young adults and church members my own age. Teaching is enjoyable because in preparation, I learn so much and have been able to reflect upon how Christ's teachings have influenced my life.

What is being a Mormon like?

Michael, sometimes Mike
Being a "Mormon" means that you take your religious convictions seriously and that you try to follow the Lord Jesus Christ and his teachings. Attending church regularly, participating in the meetings, holding a church "calling" or responsibility, reading the scriptures, holding a regular family meeting/ teaching /learning and having fun, family and personal prayer and serving others is a essential to being "Mormon". It also means to exercise faith, live the commandments and help others to follow God's plan. I love being a "Mormon" because if gives meaning and purpose to my life. Show more Show less
