Hi I'm Brent Carruth

When my wife and I were having our first child, we searched for the true Church. We became Mormons.

About Me

I am a ward missionary. That is the first thing I like people to know about me. I am 71 years old, so most of my time is spent on church activities. I also am a writer. I write under several different names, but currently am writing under Brent Carr. My series about the Bishop & the Nun has gained some readership. It is about a Mormon Bishop, who works as a FBI agent, wherein he comes to sleuth with a Catholic Nun. The two banter about religion as they traverse their daily activities. It provides a forum where I can give my testimony of Christ and the Church.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a believer that Jesus Christ came to earth to save mankind through the Atonement. The Book of Mormon rings true to me for many reasons. Among them is my faith that Jesus visited the Americas. It makes no sense to me that he would visit some of his people and keep the word of God away from his brothers and sisters in the Americas. The significant theological correlation between Mormonism, the Book of Mormon and the families from the Book of Mormon that landed in South America and settled there after their trip to the Americas 2600 years ago. The belief that Jesus, as the Firstborn, had the spiritual stewardship as Our Elder Brother. There is the Plan of Salvation for each of God's creations. It involves a spirit world existence, a millennial time and a final judgment. So when a Maya Prophet specifically identifies the Son of God as "Our Elder Brother," it is a tie, which cannot be denied. Certainly, when South America was conquered by Spaniards, they did NOT teach Mormon Doctrine. In fact, they burned all records and burned the captured at the stake if they did not instantly convert to the Catholic religion. There are many other identifiable truths, which have been discovered scientifically years after Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon by the hand of God. Even though these truths exist, my testimony of the Church exists because after prayer the Spirit has confirmed the truthfulness therein. It was not easy for me. I read and I read. It was not until the Chapters of the Prophet Alma that I could no longer deny the validity of the Book of Mormon. When you read it--don't give up. Don't read a few chapters, and conclude the greatest book in history is a work of fiction. Prayer and dedication will lead to the truth. See if Alma does not ring out to you as well. I testify that Book of Mormon is true. That it contains words, which would be lost except through the hand of Jesus and God.

How I live my faith

I am a High Priest. I attempt to serve the Lord through service and faith.

What is the Church’s position on abortion?

Life is precious. To Mormons, family is the central focus--after God and Christ. Every one of God's children should enjoy the fulfillment of life. Show more Show less
