Hi I'm Daniel Aguilar

I'm a Mormon, surprise, surprise. I was born and raised in Los Angeles and I am currently studying cyber security.

About Me

Hello! I am Daniel! I was born and raised in Los Angeles and I love venturing around the city or simply spending time by myself and taking in the scenery. I love going rock climbing, doing bodyweight exercises (such as handstands), programming, learning new languages (currently learning German) and I am also learning the piano. I am currently studying cyber security, I love technology and the sciences.I do enjoy reading about health, fitness and the human body. I know a lot of useless information, like how to dehydrate cyclohexanol to cyclohexene (super useless to me, but useful to someone else). Or something useful like getting rid of hiccups and a stuffy nose. I also enjoy watching romantic comedies and "chick flicks" because some day I want to do those cliché romantic gestures no matter how corny they may be. I just hope I find some people to share all these experiences with!

Why I am a Mormon

I was a former atheist before being introduced to this church. I was at a point in my life where I was hoping for my life to end in order to get over the depression I was undergoing. Life felt as if there was no purpose for me in this world. That I was a failure and an embarrassment to myself and others. At my lowest point I had no hope of coming out of this hole I had dug myself into, when finally I let go of my stubbornness and allowed myself to accept the gospel, hoping that it would help me pass this great trial. It began when my friend was baptized and I saw the joy that she radiated to others, something I wish I had. So I attended a stake conference that very day and listened to what others had to say, some talks really spoke to me and I was reeled in. And after meeting some of the members of the church (really joyful and happy people) I was intrigued and I went to a fireside. It was really beautiful seeing all these missionaries sing gospel music and after that I began attending family home evening and meeting new people. After that, I began meeting with missionaries and talking about the gospel and as I read, I began to feel some warmth and calmness within. I felt guided, I finally felt like I had a purpose. Soon, I began following every commandment, reading scriptures every day and every night, and praying frequently and consistently. Then I became someone that I never thought I could be. Before, I was an extremely timid person, not being able to say hi to anyone even people I knew for a while, being socially awkward and being anxious around people; that all changed, I am now able to talk to anyone, I am capable of doing so much more than I was months ago, I am no longer shy and I am pretty confident about myself. I have grown because of the gospel and I have become such a jubilant individual. I have never been happier, I finally found my purpose, my joy and that is all thanks to the gospel being a big part of my life.

How I live my faith

Living the gospel is a true blessing in my life and I try my best to do what is right. Although I am a pretty recent convert, baptized June 20th of 2015, I am part of the family home evening committee at my ward and I teach Sunday school to my fellow brethren and sistren. Outside of church I like to help others when they are in need, whether it be at school or home. One of my favorite scriptures is Luke 10:30-37. When a person is in need, do the best you can to help them and lift some of their burden and put it onto your shoulders. As it says in Galatians 6:2 - "Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ."
