Hi I'm Minerva Llanera-Hisita

I'm a mom and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm the eldest among six children of three boys and three girls. I'm happily married and I have two boys. I love to cook, bake and do things that bring out the creative side of me. I love music and it has always been a part of my life - I grew up listening to my mother's beautiful voice as she always sing while working, loving all the songs that she loved. Presently I'm a full time housewife which I've always dreamed of doing. It gives me a different kind of fulfillment to be able to serve my husband and children full time.

Why I am a Mormon

The missionaries were teaching my fraternal grandmother. In one of these visits, her drunk son drove the missionaries away with a machete. My father was also visiting his mother that time so out of pity, he invited the missionaries to our home. They started teaching him instead. My father joined the church when i was seven years old. As a young girl, I was always fascinated at how kind those missionaries are. Before sharing the gospel, they would play with us and do some tricks which we, children would enjoy so much. My mother and I were baptized two years later so I grew up in the church. The Lord has provided the way for us to have the gospel in our lives. I would forever be grateful to my father for accepting the gospel of Jesus Christ. Growing up, I've seen how he did his best to apply all the programs of the church in our home. He would wake us up early everyday to pray and study the scriptures. We would also meet together as a family every Monday night to have fun and we would all go to church together on Sunday. We would even walk both ways to get to and from the church each week. All these efforts helped me to develop my own testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel. As a youth, I also attended weekend scripture study. Now as a mom, my husband and I are doing our best to do the same thing with our children. The gospel had given me so much joy and I feel so blessed to be a member of the church. I'm happy that my siblings and their families are all active in the church.

How I live my faith

A children's song goes "I want to be kind to everyone, for that is right you see. So I say to myself remember this, kindness begins with me." This has always been my guiding principle - to do my best to be kind everyday like our Savior Jesus Christ. Little acts of kindness can brighten up someone else's life and can soften hearts. As a young woman, I used to do volunteer work at an orphanage and it has given me much joy. When my mother died I promised myself that I will visit friends who are in the hospital and comfort those who mourns. I've been a youth and children teacher for many years. I also served a full time mission for eighteen months - one of the best times of my life. Presently I'm serving as women's leader in the church which helps me develop my talents and abilities as a daughter of God and at the same time helping others to do the same.
