Hi I'm Jessica

I love holidays, reading, and singing. My two young children and my husband are my world. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to cook and bake healthy foods. I like to play sports--especially soccer, volleyball, and ultimate frisbee. I like dancing and going to Zumba classes. I like to be silly and love it when I can make my toddler laugh. I'm totally in love with my family. I believe in standing up for things that I consider to be important and true. I believe it's important to strive for excellence. I love singing in upper-level choirs and have a bachelor's degree in Music Education. I like reading--especially self-help books, religious books and dystopian fiction. I served a mission in Latvia and speak Latvian. I love vacations and travel; I like experiencing new cultures. I love the mountains and the ocean and always want to live close to one or the other. I love celebrating holidays and creating holiday traditions. I want each day to be filled with meaning, joy, and purpose.

Why I am a Mormon

I have found answers to both life and gospel questions as I've prayed and studied the scriptures or talks from current church leaders. Even though it has happened many times, I'm still surprised each time I find the solution I'm looking for! When I honestly seek an answer to a question, Heavenly Father hears my prayers and directs me to those answers. With all my heart I believe the promise that if we seek, we shall find. Being a Mormon has also provided a foundation for my family that is fiercely strong. My husband and I were married in a Mormon Temple with the intent that our marriage would last forever, and we have tackled problems and disagreements with the help of gospel knowledge, special blessings given to us, prayer, and character refinements through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Our understanding of the special nature of families in God's plan encouraged us to have our children quickly and influences how we interact with them and what/how we teach them. I'm so grateful to have help, strength, wisdom, and inspiration to help keep our family close. I love feeling like heaven is near. I love the strong conviction I often receive that the things I am learning/doing/hearing are right and good. I love forgiving and being forgiven. I love being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Right now I'm our congregation's choir director! A small number of us rehearse together once a week and then perform musical numbers for Sunday services. Each day I try to keep a spiritual mindset through personal and family prayer and gospel study. I'm striving to be more like my Savior, Jesus Christ. I work to make each Sunday a day that's set apart for family time, worship, and service.
