Hi I'm Lucy

I'm a Californian. I'm studying business. I love Netflix and Chick-Fil-A, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I currently live in Southern Utah where I'm attending college on a full scholarship. I'm studying business--I'll probably major in accounting. I've volunteered my summers at a non-profit organization that runs camps for kids and teens with congenital heart disease. I worked at a ropes challenge course in high school as a belayer. I've been called to serve as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Romania/Moldova mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know that the gospel is real. I know that I have a Father in Heaven who truly knows and loves me. Coming to college and moving away from home has been so incredibly difficult, but I have felt His presence in my life and I know that He is helping me through it. Every day, I feel His hand in my life. Learning about the gospel doesn't really feel like learning to me; it feels like remembering. It's a hard feeling to describe. I know that my Father has a plan, and that His Son atoned for me personally. I know it, and I cannot deny it. Nothing makes me happier than the gospel of Jesus Christ. Nothing makes me feel safer than my knowledge of its truth. I have been Mormon my whole life, but I didn't always know it was real. As I've gotten older and started exploring my faith, I have come to the realization that it is complete truth. The peace that it brings me isn't obtainable any other way. I am a Mormon because I know that it's true.

How I live my faith

As a senior in high school, I was called as my ward's chorister. I loved my calling. I had the opportunity to select hymns to be sung during Sacrament meeting every Sunday and I lead the congregation in song. It was an incredible experience for me to gain a stronger testimony of worship through song. I don't currently have a calling in my young single adult ward, but I still enjoy attending meetings every Sunday and FHE every Monday. My religion class is my favorite class during the week. It provides a nice break from the world and gives me an opportunity to discuss the gospel in depth. I love it.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Families are the central unit to God's plan for us. Eternal families are the end goal. Through our faithfulness, we can be with our families forever. This is especially important to me because my older brother passed away when I was thirteen. I know that through the Plan of Salvation, coupled with my faithfulness, I can see my brother again and be an eternal family. Show more Show less
