Hi I'm Darla

Born in California. Left home when I was 18 to pursue a career as a singer. Joined the church when I was 27. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, mother and grandmother. I have 11 grandchildren who are at the center of my life. I love music and it has been an important part of my life. I have played guitar for over 55 years and learned to sing along the way. This has brought great joy into my life. I played in a road band for 4 years. I met my husband while we were playing in Idaho. It changed my life. We dated for about 3 years before we were married. I went to school to become a dental assistant which helped support our family for several years. We were married about 5 years when I joined the church. I have been married 39 years.

Why I am a Mormon

When we started our family we began to realize the importance of giving our children a foundation of good standards and values. I began to notice that many youth of the world were making poor decisions that often led them into drugs and promiscuity which resulted in lives of misery and sadness. As I became aware of the church's strong emphasis on marriage and family values I decided this was the foundation we had been looking for. I also recognized that many marriages were ending in divorce leaving broken homes and families. The church has provided us with a moral and spiritual foundation that has helped make our marriage and family strong and lasting. I love my family and I love the gospel.

How I live my faith

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for 35 years. My husband and I were married and had our family sealed together in the Idaho Falls Temple for both time and eternity. Since becoming a member I have had many opportunities to share my musical talents as I have sung in numerous church meetings as well as singing in community social events, weddings and funerals. I have served as a leader in our young women's program for many years where I have learned to love the young women and the wonderful standards that they are taught. These standards have helped form the values that we have taught our own children. I have also served in our women's organizations where I have taught and learned many homemaking and teaching skills that have blessed me and my family. I have made many wonderful friends in my years as a member of the church. These friends have been a great support and example to me and my family. I love the gospel.
