Hi I'm Sarah-Leigh van Zyl

I'm a South African missionary, serving in Leeds England. I love life

About Me

I am currently serving as a full-time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the England Leeds Mission. I love helping other people realize who they are, why they are here on earth and what in is store for them as they follow Christ. Eating ice-cream on the beach with my close family and friends is what makes me happy, but my true happiness is found in serving others.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents, and grandparents, were members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints even before I was born, so I had the privilege of growing up knowing God. I was able to participate in every inspired programme that the church has to offer, from; Nursery (ages 18 months-4 years, where they learn the basics, like who God is, how to pray to Him etc.), then Primary (ages 4-12 years where that knowledge is added upon and when we get prepared for baptism at the age of accountability, being 8 years old), then Youth (12-18 years The fundamental years, where we're taught standards of how to live a clean, good life). I am so grateful that I was taught from young who God and Jesus Christ are. I know that the person I am today is entirely because of the fact that I know without a shadow of a doubt that I am a child of God. My potential is immense because I am of noble birth.God is a king and I am one of his princesses. This knowledge makes me want to try my best everyday to live up to that potential. However, I know that every person on this Earth has that same potential too. You are of noble birth just as I am. You are a child of God. I know that The Book of Mormon is an inspired and true book. I know that it was translated by the prophet Joseph Smith and that he indeed was a true prophet of God. I am forever grateful to him for the life of sacrifice that he endured so that we could have this scripture to read today. I know that just as in times of old, bible times, where there were prophets like Moses to lead the people, there is a living prophet today, President Thomas S. Monson. He tells us exactly what God would have us hear. The temple is a sacred House of the Lord. I can feel of his spirit whenever I enter there in. I cherish my membership in the church more than anything else. I have been a member for 19 years now and I have never ever looked back.

How I live my faith

Helping people is important to me. Any opportunity to help around in my community-I'm there. I love helping out at church as well. I feel that the only way to get over the negativity in the world, is by working together as a team to bless those around us. At church I am one of the youth leaders. We teach the youth on Sundays and enjoy weekly activities together. We focus on making church a safe haven, where all can unite and feel comfortable around each other. I love helping out with the youth as they are full of ambition, and that inspires me. I am also in charge of the music at church. I choose the songs we're going to sing on Sundays. I love attending our church camps. It is great to be around a bunch of people that share the same love for the Lord. These camps always seems to be super fun! I always look forward to them! After all, what's better than good food and good company!
