Hi I'm Gary

I was born and raised in Northern California, traveled the world serving in the Military and retired in Alaska. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a farm and when 19 joined the Army. I served in the Vietnam war and later served in numerous places around the world including Japan, Korea and Germany. I am a convert to the church, joining in 1977. My wife and I have served in the church in many capacities and love to serve the Lord and his children.

Why I am a Mormon

I came to love the church from the example of my sweet Wife who was a member when we married. I also had a wonderful home teacher who taught me lessons about the church and the meaning of things I knew but could not quantify. One night my home teacher came by with another man, I was a bit grumpy about them coming but welcomed them to my home. The man who came said "Gary, you have been taught the gospel of Jesus Christ, but have not become a member, why?" I came up with a couple things that seemed to bother me and he had just studied the very subjects that concerned me. My wife thought the roof would collapse, but, after speaking with them for a couple hours that seemed like minutes I knew this is what I wanted. I was baptized shortly afterwards. I have had many opportunities to feel the spirit of peace and happiness many times since. I know that my Heavenly Father lives and knows me by my first name. I know that His son Jesus Christ also lives and with the Holy Ghost the three of them are one in mission, one in wanting the best for me and for my family. He loves all of His children on the Earth, He wants all of them to return unto him. He wants all of them to be happy, but the choice is theirs. I have had answers to prayers and untold blessings come my way throughout my life, but especially since becoming a member.

How I live my faith

I have served as a Bishop twice, and numerous callings in youth programs including Boy Scouts. I especially loved serving with my wife in a Young Single Adult ward where we made many long lasting friendships and enjoyed learning and teaching with them. Currently I serve in a Temple helping people that come to enjoy the spirit.
