Hi I'm Adam Roscoe Brown

I was born in California and raised in Indiana. Aspiring to be a firefighter and a great husband and father. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Hello! My name is Adam. For this most part, I'm just a typical young man. I had a childhood filled with little league sports and Pokemon, then later went to high school where I was on the swim team and sang in three choirs, and then attended some college courses at a community college to get my firefighting certifications. I enjoy playing video games, watching anime, running and biking, and being with my family and friends as most all people do. One day I'm going to be a firefighter, presumably out west. I'd love to fight wild-land fires and protect the forests, because I also love being out in nature. I have a great interest in learning carpentry one day, and look forward to starting a family.

Why I am a Mormon

Some people think it's too hard to be a Mormon. They hear the way we live our lives and think that it's too restricted, that there are too many rules. I can see where those people are coming from, but we live the way we do because God has commanded us to. He doesn't give us commandments to make us unhappy. He tells us to stay away from the things that are going to MAKE us unhappy. These commandments are meant to protect us. There was a time when I didn't listen; I have lived my life both in and out of the church. When I lived in the world, I was lonely, and depressed. Without the Gospel in my life, I felt hallow. I knew the truth of the Gospel the whole time, but felt it was going to be too hard to go back. Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, and by the love of my Heavenly Father, I have been forgiven and live my life to the fullest by obeying my Father's wishes. He loves me, and He loves you. He wants only for us to be happy, and to give us everything that He has. He has blessed me with so much, and the more I serve Him, and heed his council, the more He guides me and blesses me. The truths of this church have brought peace to my soul. I know I am a child of God, that one day I will return to live with Him, and that His true church was restored by Joseph Smith. God is loving, God is fair, and God is forever, just as His love for us is infinite. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I go to Sunday meeting with young, single adults all ages 18-30. It's a great opportunity to meet people my age, who are all at similar points in their life, and communicate with them. During our first hour of church, we partake of the Sacrament and renew our promises to be as Christ-like as we can be. It's a time for me to reflect on Christ's atonement and think about how I can be better the following week. After the sacrament I get to hear from speakers who are selected each week from the congregation! We have no paid clergy, so I get to enjoy hearing my peers address me each week. It's a neat way for me to hear other people's experiences and interpretations of the Gospel. I often have fun by going to ward parties and get-togethers! We plan lots of activities throughout the year for us to get to know each other outside of the church environment. Outside of church I also visit members with a companion and do what we call "home teaching". We visit members who we are assigned to and catch up with them, see if they need help with anything, and then deliver a short spiritual message. It is a way for us all to do service for one another, and make sure everyone is taken care of.
