Hi I'm Cameron Brown

I'm from St. George, Utah. I like running, candy, movies, and Star Wars and I'm a college student majoring in Computer Science.

About Me

I am the 2nd oldest of 9 kids. I have 7 brothers and 1 sister. I grew up playing football, basketball, and football before ultimately running track and cross country in high school. After high school, I served a two-year full time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Finland from 2015 to 2017. I learned to speak Finnish so that I could preach the gospel and help others come unto Christ. Following my mission, I started college at BYU and I'm currently studying Computer Science. I love Star Wars and superhero movies. I love candy and ice cream. And I enjoy spending times with family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because of the great joy and blessings that come as a result of living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that Jesus Christ lives. He is our Savior and Redeemer. I know with all my heart that the Book of Mormon is true, and consequently that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. I know that through Joseph Smith, Christ has restored the fullness of His everlasting Gospel and that He continues to lead His church today through a living prophet.

How I live my faith

I served as a full time missionary, sharing my beliefs and my testimony of Jesus Christ and I still continue to share the gospel with my friends and family today, but living my faith is much more than just my desire to share it. I strive to represent Christ everyday by serving others and being kind. I live my faith by working hard in school to learn and to grow as as I try to become all that God wants me to become. I study God's word from the Holy Scriptures daily and pray each day for forgiveness from my weaknesses and shortcomings. I put Christ at the center of everything I do so that others can clearly see my strong faith in Jesus Christ.

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Cameron Brown
God never intended His church to be a place where people could make money or gain power. He knows money can lead to greediness, corruption, and unrighteousness, and He did not want those things to be a part of His church. Jesus demonstrated this in the New Testament when he cast people out of the temple for selling stuff in the temple. His church has always been about service and love through donated time, money, and energy. It has been about selflessness not selfishness. God's process of unpaid clergy keeps leaders of the church from seeming better than other people. It allows members more opportunities to serve out of the goodness of their hearts, rather than with the intent for money. It also allows the church to spend its money on more important things like building and maintaining houses of worship, helping the poor, and assisting in natural disasters. Show more Show less
