Hi I'm Maddie

I grew up in Utah. I am serving an LDS mission in Mexico. I am a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Maddie, and I like to play sports, read, and spend time with my family and friends. I recently just attended my freshman year at college where I am studying to be a civil engineer. I am taking a break from school, however, and am going to serve the people in Mexico for a year and a half on an LDS mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church, because my parents grew up learning and living gospel principles and they wanted me to be happy, just like them. I grew up going to church every Sunday, dressing modestly, and spending time with my family by participating in Family Home Evening on Monday nights. When I was eight years old, I made the choice to get baptized. After that, I knew that it was my responsibility to follow the prophet, love Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father and everyone around me, and to keep the commandments. I saw how happy my family was, and families around me that were in the church, and decided that I wanted that happiness to always be present in my life. I continue to live the gospel because it makes me happy. Heavenly Father is one of my best friends and is truly a father to me, personally, just like He is to each of His children down here on Earth. I have a testimony that Heavenly Father knows me better than I know myself, and that He knows everyone just as well. I know that, if we live our lives down here on Earth in accordance with the Spirit and His commandments, that we can live with Him when we pass on from this Earth and eventually become like Him. I know that Heavenly Father loves each of us and loves it when we talk with Him through prayer. He is always willing to hear our prayers and concerns. My testimony means everything to me, and is why I am deciding to serve an LDS mission, so that others can feel and experience the happiness I have been blessed with in my life.

How I live my faith

I participate in my community and in my ward by writing the Newsletter for our ward for every fast Sunday (first Sunday of the month). I also will try to do service for my neighbors in any way I can find like helping them with their yards, or giving them rides to places they need to go.

What is faith?

With my personal experience with Faith, it is something that comes very gradually and with practice. Faith is a hope I have that by following Jesus Christ's example, I will receive blessings even though I may not get them right away or in the way I want them to come. I have faith that my life will be blessed in some way whether right away, or in the distant future. I practice my faith by keeping Gods commandments and not expecting blessings right away, but just having a faith or knowledge that I will be happy from it and receive blessing from my obedience.
