Hi I'm Hi, my name is Gary.

I served in the U.S. Air Force and taught high school history and English. I grew up in Utah. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoyed living in many different places in the world during my Air Force career. I liked meeting new people and experiencing new cultures. I also enjoyed learning about the history and customs of the places where I lived. I enjoyed teaching high school aged students. I appreciated having great discussions with them in my history and English classes, and drawing out their comments and ideas in order to better understand them and relate to them. I hope I helped them better deal with and function in the highly integrated and interdependent world in which we now live, largely due to technology, communications and travel opportunities. I was very lucky to have two different careers which I enjoyed very much, and I felt that I was accomplishing something worthwhile and important in both of them.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the church and its teachings have given me great inner peace and serenity. I have found a greater purpose in helping and serving others. I have found the doctrines and teachings of our church to be a sure foundation in a world that is in turmoil and chaos. I am grateful for the life and Atoning Sacrifice of my Savior, Jesus Christ. I know that He is the way, the truth, the life, and the light of the world. I know that the Book of Mormon is another witness of Jesus Christ and teaches us about His ministry on the American continent after His resurrection in Jerusalem. I know He restored His church to the earth through Joseph Smith, the first prophet of this restoration in our time. I know that our church is led today by modern day apostles and prophets who speak and convey God's word and wishes to us. I am so grateful for this knowledge and witness through the Holy Spirit. I know that God loves each of His children and wants to help them find their way back to Him. If that is your journey, I hope you will seek to learn more about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, also called the Mormon Church. I know this can help you in your search for truth and lasting happiness.

How I live my faith

For the past three years, I have enjoyed working with young people in our church ages 18-31. I have even been able to continue to associate with some of the students I taught in high school. I appreciate the energy, enthusiasm, and desire of these young adults to determine and decide for themselves what they want to do with their lives. I have taught classes which help them to integrate their religious beliefs and practices into their day-to-day living and decision making. I have seen them make good decisions and better choices when they include Jesus Christ and His teachings in their daily lives and activities. I am constantly amazed at the young people of our church today, and the difference for good they are making in the world and the example of righteous living and high moral standards they exemplify. It is truly a blessing for me to work with and associate with such wonderful young adults. It gives me great hope and confidence for their future.
