Hi I'm "Mity" Miya

Born in Idaho, love to travel and lick awesome things (Empire State Building, Stonehenge, Tokyo Tower), and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I graduated from BYU in Exercise Science, but am currently in my second and final year at UVU getting my associates in Dental Hygiene. It's been really difficult going backwards in education, but my education at BYU was paramount in my spiritual development and needed to be first! I love mint chocolate everything! You could definitely classify me as your "typical Mormon".

Why I am a Mormon

I'm an 8th generation Mormon on my mother's side with a rich history of pioneers and church leaders back to Joseph Smith's time. However, my father is the first and currently the only Mormon on his side of the family. I can't say that I ever had an "oh this is true" moment, but it just always felt right and made sense since i was born! I love that if I have a question or issue with any point of doctrine in this church, I am encouraged to test it out, ask my Father in Heaven, and realize the truth for myself (Faith-action). My angle mother died unexpectedly just over 3 years ago and I went through one of the darkest times of my life, and yet I never doubted this church and I never got mad at God. I knew he had prepared me for this trial and had given me all the tools, resources, and people I needed to grieve and "recover". Sure, I stopped reading my scriptures and really struggled to go to church, but I never felt alone. NO ONE EVER HAS TO FEEL ALONE! That's the whole purpose of the Atonement and I can personally testify that Christ stands ready and willing to carry our burdens and lift our sorrows! I have felt his power in my life far too many times to even question or doubt that He lives and has restored His original church on the Earth today with the same Prophets and Apostles he has always used from the beginning of time. I love my Savior and I look forward to the day I will be reunited with Him and my mother again!

How I live my faith

I talk to my Heavenly Father morning, night, and every minute i can! He often responds as i read His scriptures every day! Due to the vast amounts of Mormons in my current area, opportunities to serve can get quite creative! I have taught lessons, lead music, visited with other sisters (women) in my ward, and was recently called to gather everyone i could every Sunday night to sing a hymn, share a spiritual thought and pray together before bed! We are like one massive happy family all trying to live the best lives we can to eventually return to our Father in Heaven!
