Hi I'm Katherine Davis

I grew up in Orange County. I love music and spending time with friends and family. I am a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Katherine Anne Davis, but everyone calls me Katie. My friends say that my nickname fits me better because it is shorter, and I am just under 5 feet tall. I am the oldest of five children. I have three sisters and one brother. I was raised in Orange County, California, but my family moved to Utah, two years ago. I am not athletic at all, but I make up for it with my musical abilities. I love to sing and play the piano. My family loves to spend time together. In the summer, we go boating and camping. In the winter, we ski. I love animals. I have two dogs and one bird. I love to teach. I am a freshman at BYU. My major is elementary education. I cannot wait to run my own classroom and help children fulfill their dreams. I love to talk. My dream job would be to voice the next Disney princess. I also love to craft, learn, read, swim, and play Hand and Foot with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I attended church every week with my family, I said my prayers most of the time, and I read my scriptures every once in a while. I kept my standards high and that was good enough for me. I did not have my own testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel. Life was good. Then, my family moved to Park City. I did not really realize how much the move affected me until I had gotten into a new routine. In all the craziness, I still went to church every Sunday, but I rarely said my prayers and never read my scriptures. I realized that I did not know if any of the things that I had been doing were true. I had no friends and a lot of spare time. I knelt down for the first time in a long time and just talked to my Heavenly Father. Then, I listened. I did not have a big “a-ha!” moment, but everything felt right. I was at peace. For the first time, I knew that I was a daughter of God with a purpose. With this knowledge, I am a better person. I have goals. The gospel makes me happy! I want to share that happiness with others.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith every day. It is in the little things, like smiling at strangers or lending a hand to someone in need. I currently teach Sunday School in church on Sunday. I hope that all of my students will come closer to Christ as we go through the scriptures together each Sunday. I recently received my call to be a full time missionary in the Philippines. However, I try to be a missionary everyday. I serve others, and I am not ashamed to talk about being Mormon or my beliefs.
