Hi I'm Jes Manfoste

I grew up in the Philippines and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah when I was 7 years old. I joined the church when I was 9 years old.

About Me

Music is my life. I've played the piano for 8 years. My family and I have done karaoke ever since I can remember. I also enjoy reading books. You don't learn anything if you don't read. I love watching movies and I often quote them. I love talking. Silence make me feel really uncomfortable. Unless I've known you for a long time, I have to fill the silence with either music or chatter. I recently went to Ireland and discovered how much I love traveling. I would love to see the world someday with a fun travel buddy.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the LDS church when I was 9 years old. My aunt and uncle are members, my mother is inactive and my father is Catholic. When I started going to Primary, I made a new friend. She and I became instant best friends and still are 11 years after. We got baptized together and became family to each other as well. I joined the church because it was something that I knew from a young age was true and real. We've always gone to Catholic mass as a family when I was younger so it wasn't like the concept of Jesus and Heavenly Father were foreign. After hearing the missionaries, I knew it was real. I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father who loved me enough to send His only son, Jesus Christ to die for me. Not just for me, but for everyone born on this earth. I know that He has a plan for each and every one of us. I know that the Atonement is real. Christ suffered each individual sin and pain so that he can know how to help us when we finally get there. I know that the Atonement can provide strength and comfort in times of hardship. When we feel like we're not strong enough or we feel like no one understands, He does. I know that this is the true church today and that Joseph Smith was a prophet. He was called of God to restore what was once lost. Without the restoration, we would all be lost. Heavenly Father wants us to live with him so He restored this gospel to enable everyone today to learn of the truth for themselves and choose to be with him and their families for eternity. This gospel makes me happy. It keeps me going through the hard times and it reminds me that it WILL be better, so long as I keep choosing to be obedient and keep choosing to be on the Lord's side. I know that everyone can learn for themselves too. Read the Book of Mormon and pray sincerely. He'll answer you, I promise.

How I live my faith

I've been involved with organizing multiple events for the youth and the church. On some occasion, I've assisted with parts of big social events like ward barbeque or stake service day. I've also been part of organizing big summer camps for the youth that require months of planning and asking for volunteers.
