Hi I'm Andrew Collyer

I grew up in New York with my 3 siblings and parents. I am a Frisbee enthusiast and love eating chicken wings. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the second of four children, 2 girls and 2 boys. Most of my favorite family traditions are Christmas related. They include going and looking at Christmas lights, decorating our numerous trees, and making homemade cookies, mints, and lollipops. In my family I a source of comic relief and provide countless movie quotes. I am a huge fan of free t-shirts and have participated in everything from a chicken wing eating contest to volunteering all day for a new shirt. I am a Frisbee enthusiast and love warm sunny days playing Ultimate Frisbee and Kan Jam with friends. Regularly in the mornings I get up to run or go to the gym so I can stay healthy and happy. I was able to earn my BS degree in Environmental Biology and hope to go to Medical School in the future! I am going on a full-time, 2 year mission to Veracruz, Mexico.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church and have had numerous occasions where I have been grateful I was able to start learning from an early age. I have the opportunity to be with my family and those I love not only here, but forever in eternity. That is one of the coolest things about this gospel. I have felt the love Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father have for each of their children because I have felt some of the love they have for me. I have prayed and know for myself that the Book of Mormon is a book of scripture given to us to reaffirm the things found in the Bible. Today we have a Prophet who is able to lead and guide us with current revelation and instruction. I am able to pray and have felt peace and inspiration that I know is personal revelation to me. I have received direction and been blessed by following those promptings. I have seen the joy people express at finding hope and faith in today's society when they embrace the gospel. I have witnessed the miraculous change in others and it inspires me to continue improving myself as well. I work to improve myself to be the very best son, brother, friend, man, and person I can be.

How I live my faith

I have been able to go to church with a great group of younger people while at school and was able to learn so much from them. We studied the scriptures every week together and became great friends. We visited each other, taught, and learned so much from all the time we were able to share. Our activities during the week were a fantastic opportunity to introduce others to our faith and beliefs outside of inviting them to a Sunday meeting. I was able to serve as a mission leader to the missionaries in our city and had my testimony strengthened by their experiences. I have been able to go out and experience teaching with the missionaries. While I am serving a mission I look forward to meeting those who are ready to hear about the love our Savior, Jesus Christ, has for them.
