Hi I'm Sonja

I was born in Indianapolis, IN and have been a member of the church my whole life. I now live in UT in the USA.

About Me

I am a wife and mother of 2 sons and I am a retired registered nurse...having worked in 2 intensive care units and a cardiovascular unit for a total of 25 years. I love to cook (improvising on recipes that I find), making jewelry (using macramé and beads) and I have enjoyed many crafting and artistic hobbies and I love to can my own food when possible. My husband is not a member of the Mormon Church, but supports me in all my church meetings and callings. One of my sons has autism and is fairly non verbal and my other son died at the age of 42 and was a member in the church and served a mission in W. Germany for 2 years. He married his eternal companion in the temple. So when he left this life he left a wife and 3 children behind and I love his family very much. I have had many church callings, including teaching the children, young women, adult women and cub scouts. I now record the visits that are made to the women I go to church with each month in our small area to make sure they are well and to see to their needs, if necessary. I love serving in the church and go to the temple as much as I am able.

Why I am a Mormon

My Grandfather joined the Mormon Church in 1920 in Indianapolis, Indiana when the church was not a popular one to join in that area. He taught the church to his wife and family and kept the church teachings going through my dad and one of his sisters. I have always been a member of the church, but have always had an interest in other faiths because I believe that they too have many good truths to teach. Even though I am a lifetime member, I have had my doubts at times, but have always not been far away from those beliefs. I had a "falling away period", but with the help of friends, family and especially the Lord, I did find my way back and feel that I have a much stronger testimony of the Mormon Church now.

How I live my faith

I have talked about my church callings in the "about me" section so I will tell you that I enjoy speaking about the church on Facebook and anywhere else that I can. I like to welcome new members in the church and also to help those who have not been coming out to church to become interested in doing so again.
