Hi I'm Billy Hewitt

I am a writer, I am a boarder, I am a Missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a recent high-school graduate. I enjoy any sort of boarding, whether it be: surfing, snowboarding, wakeboarding, longboarding, you name it. Mountain biking is a big hobby of mine, there is nothing better then a fun day in the sun cruising through narrow, rocky trails in the mountains at high speeds. I enjoy writing. There is a difference between writing an essay to your school teacher and writing your thoughts in a moleskin journal. I find passion in being creative with words. Poems, short stories, song lyrics, it doesn't matter... It helps me function, and I strongly encourage everyone to try writing at least a line a day, it will keep your thoughts organized and your mind clear. Back to boarding, if you have never visited Utah during the winter, please do! Snow sports are the most tranquil of all athletic activities. The image of powdery frost blowing through the lush green pine trees in the warm sun cannot be competed with. I have been called to serve in the Texas Dallas Spanish Speaking Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon has helped me through my darkest hours. It has shown me that there is always hope and light even when we feel like we cannot come back. As a teenager I went through deep depression, I picked the wrong friends, I shunned my parents, I stopped going to church meetings, I felt as if my world was shattering around me. There was one point where I felt as if taking my life would be the only way out of the disparity. Through this time I was forgetting the one thing that I crucially needed.. and that was my Savior, even my brother, Jesus Christ. As I knelt down by my bedside, and wept for help, I was instantly overwhelmed with a feeling of relief. To all those who read this.. The Mormon church IS the true church. It is not only a set of beautiful moral principles, it is not led by corrupt men, it is led by magnificent, virtuous men. It is the brightest light in our world of darkness and sorrow. It is our "Savior" from the cruelty of man. I have chosen to be a member of this church because I KNOW that this church has, and will, save my life. And I KNOW that it will save yours too.. All you have to do is trust in the Lord. This church has the fullness of the gospel. This church is the perfect pathway back to heaven.

How I live my faith

I live my faith not only by attending church on Sunday, but also by living my life as if Christ were sitting next to me. I am always there for any person who needs my help. As a Missionary I invite ALL to come unto our savior. I work diligently because I know how much good our message brings.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Billy Hewitt
Yes. Very much so. I am currently serving as a Missionary for the Mormon faith in Lufkin, Texas. I could not count how many times I answer this question. The answer is yes! The Bible IS the word of God. The Book of Mormon is not the "Mormon version of The Bible" The Book of Mormon is an addition to The Bible. It truly is "another testament of Jesus Christ." It will never replace The Bible in any way, shape, or form. We firmly believe that both The Bible and The Book of Mormon work together to help us know what God has given us to know. The Bible is definitely the word of God. Show more Show less
