Hi I'm Tanner Hemphill

I live in Chandler Arizona. I am a Software Developer for General Motors and I am a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Tanner Hemphill. I grew up in California and was raised a Mormon. I love my family, and sports. I was married to the best person in the world. Her and I were a match made in heaven. I am a software developer and I love to learn new things.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up a thought a lot about why I am a mormon. I knew that it always brought me happiness and it taught good principles, but I never understood why I choose to be Mormon. I was reading an article online one day about marriage and there was a line that someone said that caught my attention, it read, "till death do us part...Marriage is intimate but not infinite, after this life our marriage ends." For me that has been married just over a year it made me really sad to think how awful is knowing that I wouldn't be able to be married to the person I love for the rest of eternity. The Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder-Day Saints teach that families can be together for eternity, that marriage is intimate but also infinite. Some years ago when I was 18 my best friend died. I was so destroyed over this. I didn't understand why an 18 year old kid had to be taken from this earth, he was my best friend and he did so much for me. A few months went by and I started reading the Book of Mormon more frequent. I always knew that the Mormon church teaches why we are hear, and where we are going, but I didn't understand it. I read the Book of Mormon after this event and after some time I understood that we all have a plan and God takes care of all of his children. My 18 year old friend that died helped me even after he passes. He helped me realize that there is life after this one, where we will be able to be with our family and loved ones. These two truths that the Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder-Day Saints teach is only some of the reasons why I am Mormon.

How I live my faith

I love my faith by helping the youth in the church understand the gospel of Jesus Christ. I teach kids from the ages 12-18 about the importance of the gospel and how it can bless their lives how it has done to mine. I try to always be happy and share experiences that I have had in my life with the gospel that has helped me grow, especially if it is talking about the mission I served in Rio de Janeiro Brazil.

What is faith?

Tanner Hemphill
Many people know that faith is believing in something, especially believing in something they cannot see. This is true but to me there is more to that. In the book of James in the New Testament, it says that "Faith without works is dead." Fait, even if it is believing in something if we do not do our part and work towards it we are not showing our faith. Acting to find something to do something is faith and we will come to know of the truth of what we have faith in. Show more Show less
