Hi I'm Parker

I'm 18, I grew up in Michigan and am planing to go college in Utah at BYU. Right now I'm serving Mission and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up as the youngest of 6, I have developed a lot of different hobbies. I love building things with my hands and have taught myself to weld. Using my welding skill I built a small blacksmith forge and taught myself to make fun things like grappling hooks and knives. Through the influence of some of my brothers I have learned computer programming and have been able to work on some fun projects with my brothers. I also really enjoy playing all kinds of sports. I played soccer many of my High School years. I also really enjoy playing Ultimate Frisbee and I go rock climbing and Disc Golfing frequently. Music has also been a very big part of my life. I took piano lessons when I was young until in 5th grade when I learned I liked the Cello better and switched. I played the cello through the rest of my grade school years along with singing in various Choirs.

Why I am a Mormon

For me there never was a defining moment when I realized the church was true. I grew up in the church and was raised in a very active family, but often as I grew up I would feel like I was going to church because my parents expected it rather than self motivation. I was acting on my parents testimony rather than having my own. As I got older and did the things expected of my like get baptized receive the priesthood and actively participate my testimony grew little by little without me even realizing it. When it came time for me to decide when and if I should go on a mission, when I needed my own testimony. At first I was afraid I didn't have my own testimony of the gospel and I was still acting on my parents, but as I began to prepare my mission trying to gain my own testimony I realized that all of the things I had been doing in my childhood had built a strong foundation upon which I was able to gain my own testimony. I am so grateful for my parents and their teaching supporting me as I have grown. I know that this church is true and I have a testimony of the gospel and the wonderful change which it can bring in your life. That is why I am going on a mission and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

One way I live my faith is by trying to be the best person I can be, which includes living all the commandments and trying to help and lift others and bring them closer to god. However I have often felt that I am not living up to my potential and that I could do so much better. As a way of living more up to my potential I have chosen to serve a 2 year full time LDS mission where I will be able to dedicate all of my time and effort everyday all day long for 2 years to become a better person, to serve the lord and become closer to him, and to help lift and bring others closer to him.
