Hi I'm Matt

I enjoy long walks on the beach... well not really. I live in Utah. I'm a fun loving fellow, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I was born in California and grew up in an LDS home. I'm the last of six children, the baby of the family. I was born ten years after the first five were born! It looks like I had some important work to do down here! We moved to Utah when I was about 9 years old. I grew up always going to church. I learned many things in Sunday school classes and I tried my best to follow God. The church made a lot of sense to me growing up and my faith has only been strengthened as I've taken my questions to God and received answers to my prayers. I'm currently serving as a missionary back in California! I like a lot of different things. I enjoy playing basketball, football, baseball, soccer, riding dirtbikes, mountain biking, snowboarding, skateboarding, playing the drums, playing video games, listening to music, watching sports, etc. I've got a nerdy side to me, I love computers and movies. I get along with everyone!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, this is true, but oh am I grateful for that! From very early on in my life I've contemplated deep questions, such as what will happen to me after I die? Will I be with my family? What does God expect of me? And many similar questions. It always seemed like the church was able to answer those things that I wondered about. As I entered my teenage years the gospel continued to be a force for good in my life. It has always kept me upon the right path. When I made mistakes, I was able to learn about the supernal gift of the atonement of Jesus Christ, and I was able to use it! I'm so very grateful that I had a chance to be redeemed from my faults! As I neared high school graduation, the decision to serve a mission was at my doorstep. I knew that God would want me to serve him, so I decided it was something that I would accept and do. I did not feel prepared for it, the gospel did make wonderful sense to me, but I didn't know if I had ever asked God before if this really was his church. My whole life people would tell me, "You must read the Book of Mormon and pray about it, and God will let you know if this is the true church." I believed that all of these things were true, but I had never taken that challenge seriously. I decided that I was going to read the entire Book of Mormon. As I read, day by day, I fell in love with it. There were times that I would binge read and blaze through 6 chapters in a single sitting. The whole time I thought to myself, how could a farm boy with 3 years of formal education write this book? After I read the promise Moroni gives in Moroni 10:3-5, I kneeled down in my room and asked God for the first time directly if these things were true. Through the Holy Ghost he answered yes! That is why I continue to stay a member of this church. I own my own faith now.

How I live my faith

I try my best to follow the example of Jesus Christ every single day. I know how much he has invested in me, and I want to rise up to that. I am so imperfect, but I'm very grateful that I have a Heavenly Faher who decides to be patient with me as I try to improve. The best way I've found to live my faith is to do the basics! By reading my scriptures daily, praying sincerely, going to church, and keeping the commandments my life has been blessed greatly. It has made all the difference in my life. The gospel really is the blueprint to living a happy life!
