Hi I'm Patrice

I am studying opera at BYU-Idaho. I love to dance for fun. I love to laugh! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 19 years old going on 50. Kidding ;-). I have studied opera at BYU-Idaho for two semesters now and I love it! I used to fall asleep when I listened to opera... but now I have really come to appreciate and fall in love with it. I love love LOVE to dance =D. Whether it's in my room or in front of people I don't care, it makes me happy and I find it rather exhilarating. I dance down the isles in the grocery store all the time, it's perfectly normal. I also play the piano and I like anything artsy. Sports... I'm working on that one. As for my family, I am pretty dang lucky to have them around. My mother is a preschool teacher and an AMAZING mother. My Dad is an engineer, he's a hard worker and he'll do anything for his family. My parents have taught me to be honest, kind, and to respect myself and others around me. My sister is an English teacher, she has two little ones and is a great example to me of how a mother should be; selfless, and patient. Plus she listens to me rant about boys all the time. My brother is a band teacher and the father of a baby girl. He is the sweetest father and husband and I definitely want my future husband to be like him. And that's my family!! I love them!!!

Why I am a Mormon

I guess my story isn't SUPER interesting, but I still think it's important. I have been a member all my life and although my family definitely isn't perfect we have always been active in the church. My mom got breast cancer when I was about 8 years old, it was almost stage 4. Even when she had lost all of her hair and was weak from chemo treatment she still marched us to church. She is an amazing woman. I don't know why anyone wouldn't want to be apart of this church... I really don't. As far back as I can remember I have been taught many principles that have blessed my life. I have been taught to be accountable for my own decisions, to take responsibility when I do something wrong and to change and learn from those experiences. I have been taught how to be diligent and hard working, that God's grace is sufficient for you AFTER you have done all that you can. I have been taught that every person on this earth is a child of God, and Father in Heaven loves them all very much which means that I should too. This means being kind to everyone, no matter what their status or how good looking they are, or even if they are not kind to you. And I haven't always been perfect with these things, but growing up in this environment has influenced me to desire to continually grow and become a better person. Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ has blessed my life, and I want more than anything for it to bless the lives of others also. I know my Savior lives, that he loves me and watches out for me everyday. And I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints is His gospel. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (a mormon) my whole life. My family has always been very involved in my church. I have been the choir director for church and also the accompanist. I absolutely LOVE my church =). Something I love is that this church is SO organized! Anywhere you go there will be a mormon church waiting there, you can always point them out because they generally look the same. And the great thing is that they all teach the same doctrines! And because there is a mormon church pretty much anywhere you go (in the US atleast) there will always be nice mormon families to help you unpack and move in and to welcome you and invite you to activities. I am able to make friends pretty much right away wherever I go. It's fantastic. Another thing I love about my church is that we believe that our families can be together forever, beyond death! Because I love my church so much, and it has blessed my life, I want to share those blessings with others. Which is why I am about to embark on a new adventure and serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Richmond, Virginia! I will be teaching the gospel, inviting others to come unto Christ by repenting and being baptized into His church by the proper authority of God. I am so excited to do the Lords work!!!!!!
