Hi I'm Torie

I am a musician. I love spending time with my family and close friends. I am a missionary for the church, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Arizona. I come from a family of 6, me being the third of four children. Yup, I am a middle child! I just finished my first year of college. Although my major is currently undecided, I have been studying medicine and other various health classes up at school, but have also taken an interest to marriage and family studies. I have always enjoyed music, both as a performer and a listener. I am a percusionist... with my favorite instrument being the marimba! I also picked up the tenor saxophone my junior year of high school. I love learning new things!

Why I am a Mormon

As I think about it, I realize that I have been fortunate enough to have had my entire life to discover what I believe and why I believe it. Having grown up in an increasingly difficult world, surrounded by the temptations and forces of peer pressure and the media, it is easy to get caught up in the material things and the pleasures of the world. Most of my friends in elementary school were not LDS. Most of my high school friends were not LDS. I was always the one that would have to make the decision to either follow the crowd or to stand up and follow my beliefs. Sometimes I would falter, or simply not say anything if I knew something was wrong. I know we've all been in that situation. There came a point in my life where I was not actively doing the things I knew I should be doing. I went to church, but stopped reading my scriptures. I rarely prayed. If I did, I wasn't very sincere about it. I hung out with people that brought me down and did not make the best of decisions. I was in darkness in every sense of the word. I was not happy, so I finally began to search for the light. I started praying again. I started reading my scriptures. I started to ask for help in overcoming obstacles. It was not easy, but I got help from those that loved me, and was able to begin thinking clearly. I started to make changes in my life, and started living the things that I have been taught in my church. Slowly but surely, I was able to come to an assurance that God loved me more than I could even comprehend. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior-- the only reason that I can

How I live my faith

I am a part of a Young Single Adult ("YSA") Branch, which consists of singles ages 18-31. I attend church services every Sunday, and actively participate in the Monday night activities, as well as other planned activities. I go to Institute classes on Tuesday nights, where YSAs join together to be taught the Gospel by qualified teachers, and to learn through the scriptures and one another's insights into Gospel topics. I strive to live the principles of my faith every day, and strive to read the scriptures and pray every day.
