Hi I'm Jacob

I was born and raised in Nevada, and I love photography and dirt bike riding. I've been called to serve a mission in El Salvador.

About Me

I enjoy going out and riding dirt bikes with my little brother as often as I can, as well as experimenting with photography. I especially love sunrises and sunsets. I'm currently preparing to serve a mission in El Salvador, and I am beyond excited for that. Upon returning, I plan to go to college to study aerospace engineering or physics.

Why I am a Mormon

I find that instead of the question "Why am I a Mormon?", it should be "Why wouldn't I be a Mormon?". I currently sacrifice a good amount of my time to church activities and service, and soon I will be putting my entire life on hold for two years to serve others and preach the gospel. Honestly, it does seem like a lot to ask. I'm young and have my entire life ahead of me, and instead of getting a head start on my education and career, I'm devoting two years of my life to the church. One might say I'm sacrificing a lot. However, sacrificing something implies that I will miss out on or receive less of something. I know that devoting my time, effort, and talents to the gospel is far from a sacrifice. I can already see that the blessings I receive far outweigh anything I have put in. I know that as I serve my mission I will grow and become more like the person I want to be. That is, more like my Savior, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I am trying to prepare every way I can to serve my mission. This includes the simple stuff, such as personal prayer and study, but I also love attending a weekly missionary preparation meeting. I work with several nonmember coworkers, which allows me to be an example of what I believe. Doing so opens the door to questions and discussions about my personal beliefs. This helps me prepare for my mission, and I also love how it feels to be a missionary.
