Hi I'm Sister Matheny

I grew up in Austin Texas. I love theater, movies and hope to continue my education at BYU after my mission.

About Me

I love horseback riding, skiing, ice skating and reading. I am going to school for computer science and want to design the software for movie CGI after I graduate but my end goal is to become a mother and start my own family. I am currently on a mission in Naga, Philippines and have loved having this opportunity to serve the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up Mormon and am still of the faith to this day. I remember telling my mom once that I didn't want to be Mormon anymore and her response is what allowed me to realize the church is true on my own. She told me that what religion I practice would be my own choice, which made me have to really think about if I actually wanted to leave the church. After some consideration, I realized that the church is true and I have been a devoted member ever since.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a full time mission and am working on developing Christlike attributes to help me better serve others. I talk about my faith with my friends and stand up for what I believe in. I read my scriptures and pray daily and try to apply the lessons taught in the scriptures to my daily life.

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Sister Matheny
Baptism by immersion is the first step to returning to live with God again. When we are baptized, we are washed free of sin and are given the chance to start out on a clean slate. By entering into this covenant with God, we promise to follow God and his commandments and we make a huge step on the path towards eternal life and salvation. Show more Show less
