Hi I'm Jax

West Alberta born and raised. In Lethbridge is where I spent most of my days.

About Me

I love outdoor activities. In high school I played Basketball, Football, Rugby, and ran Cross Country. I love keeping in shape and also watching movies. I am serving a mission for the Lord here in Ontario. I also love travelling and experiencing new things. I love my family and friends as well. I'm also a member of the #PG.

Why I am a Mormon

This is an extremely fair question that I would ask if I wasn't one and also something I ask myself even now. My story for becoming a Mormon is not amazing, I was born and raised into a Mormon family and became a member at the age of 8 just like many members. I grew up in the church for my whole childhood going along with the beliefs I had been raised with. Yes, in a sense, I didn't really ask a lot of questions and never truly knew if the things I learned were right. I kinda just went with the flow. It wasn't till high school that I started asking questions and a lot of doubt entered into my life. I no longer prayed every night or did scripture study and my testimony started to dwindle. I was blessed when I went to a high school on the other side of the city where I lived and met kids that were members who were the best examples to me. Without these friends I don't know how my choices might have turned out. These kids helped me so much. I am so thankful that I could be raised in such an amazing family that also gave me the best of values & morals. Before I went on a mission I still wasn't sure if the church was true so I decided to go to find my testimony which is something I would recommend doing before your mission. As I read the Book of Mormon seriously for the first time by myself, I prayed to know if the Book was true. One day I read in 3 Nephi chapter 11 which talks about the Savior when He came to the people of the ancient Americas. It was after reading this, I remember literally standing from where I stood, pointing to the book and saying "that book is true." I have also come since then to know other things are true as well. I know the plan of salvation is indeed Gods plan and we can be with loved ones passed on after this life. I know the Atonement is real and have felt the cleansing and purifying effects of it. It isn't a one time thing. Its an everyday thing that has influenced my very being. This is Gods Church here on the earth. Its true. I know it.

How I live my faith

Right now I am serving a mission which entails your full time and attention to serving the Lord and His Children. Everyday I serve. I help people come to the joy of gospel living that I have felt in my own life. Its very satisfying when you can help guide someone to the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I, also, before my mission served in various places of service as a young man and also went home teaching which is where you and someone else go and visit some people and help them with their spiritual and physical welfare. When you ever feel down, go serve and help others and you will forget yourself and feel so much happier is a lesson I've been able to learn. A quote I enjoy says "A religion that does not require the sacrifice of all things, never has power sufficient to produce the faith necessary unto life and salvation." Just trying to be like Jesus is my goal.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Jax
The Word of Wisdom is just like how it sounds. It is wisdom that has been revealed to us through Prophets in this era of time letting us know how we can better invite the Holy Spirit into our lives and keep our bodies healthy. In the Bible our bodies are compared to temples and therefore are special because they are a gift to us from our loving Father in Heaven. Therefore, we need to take care of our bodies and God revealed that we should not partake of tobacco, alcohol, coffee, tea and illegal drugs. By not partaking of these things we can have the Spirit more with us and also protect our own Spirits which dwell in these bodies. Another thing God has given us is agency and many of these things can become addictive and inhibit that wonderful gift and enslave us without our knowing it. I've seen good people who's lives have been ruined or even taken by these things and I know how dangerous they can be. This whole commandment is really just there to protect us and let us invite the Spirit more into our lives. It can take faith, but really at the end of day is is that not one of the things required of us? I really want to promise whoever reads this that you WILL see changes in your life by living it. Its blessed me so much. Show more Show less
