Hi I'm Janice Johanson

I was born and raised in Michigan, now living in Las Vegas. I am the mother of 6 and the grandmother of 24, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a musical family, my mother and father having met playing the violin in the orchestra at college. I minored in music while attending college and met my husband in the marching band. I am the mother of six children, one of which also met her husband in the marching band at college. I was an Air Force wife for 20 years, travelling and living in several different states and countries. I worked in the medical billing field after my husband retired from the Air Force and we actually settled down in one place. My husband and I are now both retired.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I have a testimony that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and is my Savior and Redeemer. I have been blessed with a practical knowledge that God loves His children today, just as much as He did in ancient times. Because that is true, it makes sense to me that we have a living prophet on the earth today. It also makes sense that He would establish His church again on the earth to help guide us through this earthly experience.

How I live my faith

While we were in the Air Force, we participated in some very remote and tight-knit Air Force communities. I enjoyed using my musical talents in organizing and directing music programs for the inter-denominational Children's Bible School held on base during the summers. I also had the opportunity to direct a Women's singing group that performed at different social functions held on base. My college degree was very practical, but my love of music has opened up many more opportunities to be involved in my community. Whether at work, church or schools, everyone can be touched in some way by music.I guess music spans all areas and peoples because it is sort of a 'universal language.'
