Hi I'm Heidy

I grew up in Costa Rica and was baptized when I was 18 yrs old. I am a wife, a mom of five children, an engineer. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy spending time with my family. I love my husband and my five children, and we try to work as a team. Fridays' nights we love to watch a movie as a family and it has been one of our favorite traditions. On Sundays we attend to church together and strive to read the scriptures as a family everyday at bed time. I went back to school after my kids have grown a little bit, with their support and my husband's support I was able to finish my degree and now I am returning to join the work force after many years. I heard the missionaries when I was 18 years old, and I got baptized. Since then I have been an active member in the church, my life and my family's life have been greatly blessed for that decision and for a couple of missionaries. I am very excited that my oldest son soon will be on an mission and he will be able to meet great people and bless the life of others as the missionaries did with me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because since the moment I heard, and read the Book of Mormon I felt it was true. The Spirit testified of this gospel to me, and even though it was not easy at the beginning I made the decision of getting baptized. My family and friends did not agree with my decision and it was cause of grief for long time. However, the happiness, comfort, knowledge, and blessings of this gospel have been beyond my initial thoughts. My extended family (even though they are not members) have also been blessed because of this gospel. I know that Heavenly Father has a plan for me and or you, the Plan of Salvation is there to help us succeed in this life and be able to return to His presence. I continue to follow His gospel because I want to go back with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ with my family.

How I live my faith

I love to go to church on Sundays with my family, and hold family home evening with them every Monday. During family home evening we pray, sing, and share a short lesson with my kids. Other days we pray as a family in the mornings, before going to bed, and during meal time (when we are together). We also study the scriptures every evening and take turns as we read them. Jesus is the anchor of my family, He and His gospel is what keeps us together. His love and atonement enables us to strive every day to conquer the challenges of life. I have also learned that when I serve others I am living my faith because I am applying what Jesus taught. Part of the service is done to other members of my church through the callings I have served on, that go from serving children, youth, and adults.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

For me one of the most important blessings I receive from the Holy Ghost is the inspiration I have received in times of distress, need, and when making important decisions. The Holy Ghost has testified to me about the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and has guided along my life. It's my companion, my comforter, even my teacher while attending to school. I love to have the gift of the Holy Ghost in my life, it's a gift from my Father in Heaven. Show more Show less

What are Mormon temples used for?

Temples are the most sacred places on earth. They are houses of the Lord, and everything is done in them helps the children of God to become closer to Him. Since old times, the Lord asked his prophets to build Temples, places where God could provide further knowledge to His children, and where the children of God could provide service to the Lord by serving others. Today Temples are not different. The Temple is the house of the Lord, and when I attend to the Temple I feel the Spirit so strong that I realize I can become closer to God by attending to these sacred buildings. I feel loved by my Father in heaven, and I feel love for those I serve when I go to the temple. In the Temples we make covenants with God and we participate of sacred ordinances. Temple's ordinances bless people that attend to them, their families, and those that have previously lived here and have departed to the Spirit World. Show more Show less
