Hi I'm Sarae Niemela

I am from Utah. I love laughing and spending time with my family and friends. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the fourth of six children in my family. I have 1 sister and 4 brothers. I was born and raised in Utah and I am attending Utah Valley University. I will be serving a mission in the Peru, Arequipa mission and I am SO excited to be able to share this wonderful gospel with the Peruvians! I am a figure skater and absolutely love it! I also love to sing, play the piano, bake and eat yummy treats and watch movies. My family and friends are very important to me and I love spending time with them and going on fun adventures!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church and went with my family every Sunday. I didn't always know for myself that the church was true, although I hoped it was! I always tried to be a good girl as I was growing up and live the standards that I was taught. I can not remember a specific moment or time when I suddenly knew that the church was true. I think my testimony slowly developed over time until I came to know that the church is true. I can not back track to that one time where I found out for myself that it was true though. I can not deny the peace, happiness and joy that comes to my life from living the gospel. I have felt the spirit countless times throughout my life. All these experiences have helped to strengthen my testimony. I have read the Book of Mormon for myself several times and every time I finish it, a calming feeling comes over me and I am reaffirmed that the Book of Mormon is true. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints contains all the keys on Earth and that through being a faithful member till the end, it will allow me to live with my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ for all eternity. I have a firm testimony of this gospel and I know it to be true. That is why I will be leaving my family, friends and life behind me for 18 months while I go to Peru and share this with the people there so they will be able to have this happiness in their lives as well.

How I live my faith

Although I am not perfect, I try to be a little more like our Savior, Jesus Christ, every day. As I do this, my day runs more smoothly. I have more of a desire to read the scriptures daily and I say more meaningful prayers. I genuinely try to be kind to everyone to let them know someone cares about them. As I go to church each Sunday, I take the information I have learned and apply it to my own life to make myself a better person. When I am given a calling, I do my best to fulfill that calling to the best of my ability.

What is being a Mormon like?

Sarae Niemela
Being a Mormon is great!! The guidance and counsel we are given by church leaders and our Heavenly Father are only there to protect us and keep us on the right path. Being a member of the LDS church has brought me more joy than I will ever know. I love this church so much! Every day I feel of my Saviors love for me and can feel myself being watched over. Reading the Book of Mormon every day and messages from our church leaders has guided and helped me so much in my life and I am so grateful for that! It is so wonderful to know that families can be together forever and that I can live with my Father in Heaven and his son, Jesus Christ, again some day. Being a Mormon brings me continual joy every day of my life! Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about family?

Sarae Niemela
Family is ordained of God and is between a man and a woman. We believe that by being sealed in the temple, we will be able to live with our family for time and all eternity. Life with your family does not end after death. Family is central in the Plan of Happiness and is meant to be cherished and loved. Both husband and wife have crucial roles in the family unit and one can not be without the other. Nor is one put above the other. Show more Show less

Who was Joseph Smith?

Sarae Niemela
Joseph Smith was only 14 years old when he felt confused about all the churches preaching around him. He did not know which church was true, and he wanted to know. So at age 14, he went into the Sacred Grove and prayed with a sincere heart to know which church he should join. During his prayer, God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, appeared to Joseph and told him that he should not join any of the churches. Instead, he should restore the true church back onto Earth. During his life, he restored the LDS church, translated the Book of Mormon, restored all the priesthood keys back onto Earth, started building temples again and much much more. Joseph Smith was a great man who was faithful to our Father in Heaven until the very end. Show more Show less

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Sarae Niemela
Missionaries proselyte because they have a personal testimony about the gospel of Jesus Christ. They know how much joy and happiness can be brought into a person's life by accepting the gospel and being baptized. So they want to share the wonderful message we have to offer so that others will be able to be with their families forever, live with their Father in Heaven again and live a greater, happier life. We want to spread the gospel to every place on Earth, and that is done by the missionaries. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Sarae Niemela
The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. This book will bring us closer to any other book on the Earth and contains writings from ancient prophets. If we faithfully study the Book of Mormon, it can provide us with answers to prayers, insight, protection, happiness and much more! A great promise that the Book of Mormon holds is that if we read this great book and pray with a sincere heart, we will be able to know by the Holy Ghost that it is true. If we turn to the Book of Mormon in times of trial, we can be given comfort, guidance and given answers if we are humble and willing to listen and feel of the Holy Ghost. Show more Show less
