Hi I'm McQuinn

Drawing is my passion. I'm 6' 5" and I don't play basketball. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a recent high school graduate and will soon be heading on a full-time mission. Ever since eighth grade, I've lived on a gluten-free diet and can't remember the taste of top ramen. I like to paint, sculpt, make animations, and especially draw. My sketchbooks have become very close friends.

Why I am a Mormon

This is a question I've considered a lot as I've come closer to leaving on my mission. As I have, I've come to realize and better appreciate the beauty of the gospel. Everything the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ teaches is for the benefit of God's children. Through it, we can find out how to experience joy and peace in world that can often present trials and difficulties. My junior year, I finished the Book of Mormon for the first time. The night I read the last chapter at around 11:30, I knelt down and prayed to know if what I had been reading was true. I immediately felt an undeniable swelling in my chest. It was a confirmation for me. Ultimately, everything we do in this life is because of a feeling. That swelling feeling was sufficient enough for me, and that's why I have continued to be a Mormon. I have found that by following Jesus Christ's example of charity and forgiveness, we can experience a sense of fulfillment that can't be found anywhere else. I also have found that by applying His atonement, we can come to forgive ourselves of our mistakes and become better people. I'm not a perfect person and I've made many mistakes, but it's through Christ that I believe we experience redemption. I've seen the forgiving example of Christ through the people in my ward. I love the unity and care that exists in the church, and that care is extended to everyone and anyone. Everyone is God's children, and God loves all his children. That's why He gave His Only Begotten so that we would be able to live with Him again, if we are willing to apply the sacrifice in our lives. I believe that you can pray to come to know that this is true. I love God and I love the Gospel.

How I live my faith

I will be going on a two year mission in a few days. I will be preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and it's because I love Heavenly Father and His Only Begotten Son. I feel like I need to take part in sharing the message of the gospel with those who don't have it, because it's brought so much joy to me and my family's life. I'm sure it can bring joy to other families' lives too, if they constantly strive to follow the example of Jesus Christ. I live my faith by striving to keep the commandments of God and fulfilling my callings. I love the Book of Mormon, and have made it a routine to read from it every night. You can learn something new every time you reread a chapter or verse from the Book of Mormon. The scriptures talk about bridling our passions, and that's something I try to remember as I exercise my passion of drawing. I don't draw things that would offend or take away from The Spirit, because The Spirit can offer valuable guidance in our everyday lives.
