Hi I'm Joshua Pelayo

I was born in California, but shortly after i was born my family moved to Illinois and I have been here since.

About Me

I didn't play sports until middle school, before that i was in choir and I was in theater. But now i play soccer competitively, also i play basketball, tennis, and like to run 5k.

Why I am a Mormon

I have struggled like others have to find the truth for myself, I was born and raised in the gospel but i became less active due to putting sports and relationships as more of a priority. I was in active since i was 14, since then I have struggled in coming back to the church, on and off i went until I was 21. I knew i could be happier than i thought i was, i remembered when i was in scouts and the friends that i had in church. i wanted to feel the same way I felt when i was in the church, but i didn't know if i could come back, because i felt like i wasn't good enough. once i started to meet with the Missionaries again i started to feel the way i did when i was first baptized, I started to recognize the spirit. On a Wednesday afternoon i was meeting with the elders in my branch and I shared my favorite scripture with them (either 5:5) and i was overwhelmed, because at that moment i realized that the Book of Mormon was true and that I was forgiven of the sins i have made. I know that heavenly father loves me and he was always there for me but it wasn't until I humbled myself and truly wanted to know if the Book of Mormon was true, once i did that i got my answer. i know that the plan that Jesus Christ fulfilled is the plan of happiness, because he has helped me overcome my trails and find the truth in the gospel of the church and i couldn't be more grateful. it took me a long time to find it for myself but he never gave up on me and neither did my family i have changed for the better and i can say i am truly happy and i wouldn't have it any other way.

How I live my faith

I do my best to read the Book of Mormon everyday and i attend church every Sunday. I am FHE coordinator, and it has helped me open up and really study the scriptures. I strive to do my best everyday and I look forward to attending priesthood meetings and quorum activities.
