Hi I'm Elliot

I grew up in Texas. I was a competitive powerlifter. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Well I am an avid reader, exercise freak, and a musician. I love to read fiction novels (such as the Harry Potter series), I am a competitive weightlifter (I got third in the state of Texas), and I play the piano. I'm currently attempting to learn español, and hopefully I'll become fluent so I can talk with my friends in their native language. I am currently preparing to leave on a mission; I have been called to serve in the Chicago Illinois Mission (Spanish speaking). After my mission, I plan to attend Brigham Young University and become an engineer of some sort!

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? Well I grew up in the church, and I have always been taught that our gospel is the truth. I believed it because my parents were telling me it was true, not because I had my OWN testimony. As a result of my skepticism, I begin to commit some pretty heinous sins (at least in my eyes). I felt a little guilty, but by that point I had been pretty numbed to the Spirit. After awhile, I just began to feel sad. All the time. I began to question the church, and I genuinely wanted to know if it was true. After many intense sessions of prayer I knew what I had to do. I went to my Bishop to confess and forsake my sins. It was not easy, it was one of the most difficult things I have ever done in my entire life. But the peace I felt in my heart after that is impossible to describe with words. It is a peace that I know could have only come from a true gospel, and that moment was my small taste of how amazing life can be in the Lord's church. Ever since that moment, I have always strived to be a good person. I know that this is the true church, and the happiness you will find here...the happiness I have found here, can only be found (longterm) in the Lord's church. I love this gospel, and I hope that I can share it with anyone and everyone who is ready to receive it.

How I live my faith

I do not live near the church; however, my family and I always find a way to attend church every single Sunday. I am only 18 years old, so I do not have too much responsibility in the church just yet. I am leaving for my mission on September 2nd, and I could not be more excited! The gospel has brought me so much joy, and has blessed my life in so many different ways. I have not even served a full-time mission, but just preparing to go has changed me in ways I never even thought possible. I love the people, I love the missionaries, and I love the gospel.
