Hi I'm Rebekah

I grew up in Oregon. I have a big family and great parents who want me to succeed. I love music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Since I was little I've always loved music. I've studied piano for seven years and the flute for six years. I love to play hymns for the meetings at church and for my family. I like to accompany the hymns because it makes the singing sound good. I play flute in band and orchestra and have gotten scholarships to play the flute in college as my major. My parents and I are excited about that. I also love running. I've ran three different marathons and one trail run which was about twenty-three miles. I love it because it keeps me healthy and active. When I'm not running long-distance I go on short one-miles runs with my family. I am also vegan. I don't eat meat, dairy, or eggs. My dad said he wanted to try the vegan lifestyle a couple years ago and I tried it out too. I felt so good that I kept it up. Gotta love veggies!!!

Why I am a Mormon

I am not a Mormon for my parents, or relatives, or friends. My parents did teach me about the gospel and set good examples for me when I was little, but I made the choice to get baptized when I was eight. When I was twelve I prayed about this gospel for myself. I fasted for a couple meals and I read The Book of Mormon. Then I asked God whether it was true and whether being a part of this church was the right thing for me to be doing. I had the feeling that this was right and that The Book of Mormon was true. When I live the teachings of the church I am blessed with peace. In the past I have made bad decisions that go against the church's teachings. I felt so guilty and dirty. But when I decided to repent and come back to the teachings of Christ, I felt His Love and Forgiveness. He gave me peace when I started keeping the commandments again. My family helped me through those hard times. I love them, and I want to be with them forever--not just in this life. Through the teachings of the church I have learned that I can be with them forever. I also love that I can be know God personally and that I don't have to go through a priest or an angel to talk to Him. That I can visit His house, the holy temple, and feel his spirit and gain knowledge and understanding. He guides my life and helps me make difficult decisions. I love that Joseph Smith revealed the Word of Wisdom. It helps me take care of my body and live a healthy, productive life. I am a Mormon because it makes me happy.

How I live my faith

I am active in the community by volunteering with red cross and other institutions, playing in the community band, and by going to church for three hours every Sunday. On Sunday nights I go to an additional hour of class to prepare myself for a mission. I recommit myself every Sunday to living the Gospel of Christ every single day. I live my faith by saving up money to go on a full-time mission. I have been called to Peru to preach the gospel, serve, and love the people there for eighteen months. I will miss my family, but I know that it is important that everyone be able to learn about Christ. I need to be a part of it. I love studying the scriptures: both the Bible and The Book of Mormon. Every Tuesday night I go to a class to study the scriptures and learn about the history of my church.
