Hi I'm Rachel

I grew up in Texas, I just finished my freshman year of college, and I am going to serve a full time mission for the lds church!

About Me

I am the second oldest of a family of six kids, and I just finished my freshman year of college. I am majoring in Elementary education.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the lds faith and have been an official member of the church since I was eight years old. As I grew, I learned to love the primary songs and Book of Mormon stories we were taught. I would have sweet experiences with finding my bag or stuffed animal by praying to my Father in Heaven and asking for help in the search. My parents were diligent with having scripture study every night, and family home evening every Monday. This is where I gained most of my basic knowledge of the gospel. Eventually, I was able to answer questions in my classes at church confidently, and was what I would at the time claim to be, fairly familiar with the scriptures. It wasn't until the end of my Senior year of high school that I began to question my faith. I was faced with questions and accusations about the ethnicity of The Book of Mormon and the honesty of Joseph Smith that I had never been faced with before. Quotes of our own apostles were being twisted and turned against me. I was challenged to open my mind and look outside my bubble of Mormonism. I took on the challenge. I didn't want to be ignorant and closed minded. I recognized that there was goodness outside of myself and my own church. I just wanted the truth. This led to sleepless nights of me studying. I read countless articles, books, historical websites, documentaries and commentaries about the apostasy and interpretations of the book of Revelations and Book of Mormon. I studied Christian history, the blueprint of Christ’s church in the New Testament, the translations and new editions to the Book of Mormon, excerpts and explanations from and of the Quran, etc. I had miraculous revelatory experiences as I searched for the truth. I consequently rediscovered the truth within the Mormon church I was raised in. I testify that as you diligently seek the truth and ask God with a sincere and raw desire for guidance, He will reveal to you the answers to your questions and lead you back to the fold.

How I live my faith

I currently attend a YSA (young single adult) branch in the church. I used to be a Gospel Doctrine teacher in another YSA ward near where I went to school. There I had the chance to teach in depth about the New Testament that later transitioned to The Book of Mormon as the new year approached. Now I help fellowship others in the branch that I attend now.
