Hi I'm Allen

I live in California. I have been called by God to be His missionary. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I just graduated from high school, and am trying to figure out what comes next. I am going to serve a full time mission, after which I plan on going to college, hopefully to study mechanical engineering. In high school, I did long-distance running and threw shot-put and discus and thoroughly enjoyed all three. I also wrestled during my sophomore year. Mainly, I enjoy playing the piano, working out, and attempting to learn how to play the guitar.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have read the Book of Mormon, studied the teachings of the Church leaders, and have gained a testimony of the truthfulness of the teachings thereof as well as the blessings that come from living the standards put forth by the Church. I am a Mormon because I have never felt the type of light like I feel every time I go to church or read the scriptures. I am a Mormon because the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true.

How I live my faith

I have the great opportunity to go both to my home ward and to the singles ward on Sundays. At the home ward, I get to grow with a group of guys who, like me, have received their mission calls. At the singles ward, I get the opportunity to interact with a greater variety of people who are in similar stages of life as I am. Sometimes, this can seem like a lot of church, and both wards have several activities each week which make it pretty busy. Yet, it never seems like a burden, because of the things I feel when I am there. When I go to both wards, I feel light and focused for the week. I love it!

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Young Men, like me, who are able to do the work, are called to do missionary work. However, because of medical and other reasons, some are not able to go. Still there are many different kinds of missions available that can accommodate for most needs. I know someone who went out on a mission, but, because of medical reasons, could not stay out. So, he had the opportunity to come and live at home, but still serve at a food bank for part of the week and at the temple for the other part. Show more Show less
