Hi I'm Justin Sherwood

I plan to spend my whole life in service; right now as a missionary, as a firefighter when i return, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I was born and raised in Colorado; and have lived there my whole life.. I love hockey and also mixed martial arts, particularly Ju Jitsu. I was a very average student in grade school, mostly C's and B's.I was also a very reserved sort of shy person. I never really had that drive or desire to excel at school because it was hard for me to find interest in what my classes were teaching. But i always felt that I was meant to do something more in my life and longed to find what my purpose was. In high school i was introduced to the idea of firefighting from a friend to our family. So i checked out the career and it interested me. I joined the fire department's cadet program and began to become very excited about the things i was learning. The excitement I felt also carried over to my schooling. I began to get much better grades, and i also found a program that allowed me to take college courses on firefighting in place of my regular high school classes. Through all this i also met some of my best friends and created many lasting relationships. I believe all of this happened to me because of my faith that god had a plan for me, and i also don't believe I would be capable of the things i have and am going to accomplish without the help of my family, and the leaders i group up with in my ward.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the gospel is true and that it has real power on the Earth today. I have witnessed it multiple times but none more strongly when a pair of missionaries gave my dad a blessing after he had gotten in a bad motorcycle accident. The doctors had told us that he probably wouldn't make it, so with our hearts full of sorrow we turned to the Lord and he brought us two missionaries. They gave him a blessing and that's when he started to make a full recovery. It was nothing short of a miracle and I will never forget it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by always trying to be an example. One of the things i most enjoy is service in the form of manual labor. I don't know why but i just love doing hard work or lifting heavy things for people who may not be able to or just need a helping hand. I strongly believe that the best way to become close to Christ is by loving everyone around you. Being a Boy Scout is what i think prepared me for this lifestyle and what gave me this service dedicated mindset, and it also gave me the desire to push the limits of my peers around me.
