Hi I'm Jackson Downey

I was born in Santa Monica, California, but I have grown up in Las Vegas, Nevada for the majority of my life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just graduated as Valedictorian from West Career and Technical Academy. There, other than my normal High School studies, I studied Biotechnology. I ran cross country and played lacrosse while I was in High School. I have played the piano for 12 years, and enjoy accompanying people in church, school, and seminary. I have also learned to play the organ, and play every fast sunday in my ward. One of the best experiences of my teenage years was participating in an orchestra here in Las Vegas called Zion's Youth Symphony and Chorus. It is made up of LDS youth in the Las Vegas valley, and we put on a program twice a year. I played the French Horn and was first chair for the past two years. It has been one of the biggest blessings in my life and loved every second of it. Some other things I love to do are snowboard and wakeboard. I love going on lake trips and ski trips with my family. I am now preparing to leave on a two year mission to Reynosa, Mexico.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have felt the Holy Ghost testify to me that this is Christ's church, that Joseph Smith was a Prophet, that he restored the Priesthood, that Jesus Christ is our brother and Savior, and that his Atonement is real and can make us whole. I have felt the spirit testify these things to me in such a way that I could never deny them. I am so grateful that I know these things because they lead me to make the decisions I need to in order to one day live with my Father in Heaven and family again.

How I live my faith

In my own ward, I had a leadership position in my young men's group. I was responsible for helping organize and plan our meetings and activities, and I really enjoyed it because I felt like I was serving the other boys in my group. I also used my talents to serve, I accompanied musical numbers all the time and also played the organ every month in Sacrament meeting.
