Hi I'm Riley Nelson

I love to travel, knit, jam out to music in the car and going on random adventures is the best! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Some might say I am an old soul since I send many a day knitting and love to garden, but that is only one side of me. I LOVE to ride ATVs, go snorkeling, rock climb, and love exploring the world! I greatly enjoy learning about people and hearing their life experience. Being with people, and gaining a deeper understanding of what make a them who they are, is something I love to do. I worked on a farm as a camp counselor and often found myself chasing goats, chickens, and all sorts of animals. And I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I grew up in the Church, and my parents always encouraged me to search for an answer for myself. After I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know it was true I got my answer. I love the message the Book of Mormon contains and love the truth that I can live with my family forever.

How I live my faith

The way I live my faith is the way I live my life. Each day I look for ways that I can serve, comfort or help others. I look forward to going to church every week, and love the way I feel there. I am currently spending 18 months serving the wonderful people in the Iowa Des Moines Mission!

What is the Book of Mormon?

Riley Nelson
The Book of Mormon is a record of God's dealings with the people in the ancient Americas. The Book of Mormon testifies of Christ and make the purpose of not only His life but the purpose of our lives clear. The Book of Mormon is a fulfillment of prophecy! Ezekiel 37:16-17 talks about two "sticks" the stick of Judah and the stick of Joseph. The people within the Book of Mormon are descendants of Joseph and the people in the bible are descendants of Judah. The two records support each other up! Show more Show less

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Riley Nelson
Imagine you have been given this super cool stereo. You can tell this is a wonderful gift and you can try to figure it out for yourself but reading over the instructions gives you a complete understand how to use it. You don't want to break this wonderful gift do you? Well the same goes for the Word of Wisdom. Our Heavenly Father made us and knows what we should and shouldn't put into our bodies. The word of wisdom is counsel to keep our bodies happy and healthy. We have been consoled to avoid tobacco, alcohol, tea, coffee, illegal drugs, and addictive substances. The word of wisdom also gives us consoled to eat healthy so we can "run and not be weary." There are many reasons why but a blessing that really stands out to me is the blessing of recognizing promptings from the Holy Ghost. Show more Show less
