Hi I'm Denise

I grew up in California. I have been a Mormon all my life. I graduated from Brigham Young University. I have 5 children.

About Me

I grew up in Northern California. I had 5 brothers and 1 sister. I loved being outdoors. I snow skied, water skied, hiked, camped, swam, and tubed down the river. I attended Brigham Young University and earned a bachelor's degree. I am married and have 5 children and 6 wonderful grandchildren. I like to travel and see new places. I sew and cross stitch and love to read. I love music, all kinds, rock, classic, soft rock, jazz, oldies, and show tunes. I like to sing and dance with my sweet husband. I played the violin when I was a kid and one of my goals is to take it up again.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I was taught the gospel of Jesus Christ by goodly parents. They taught me to read and study the scriptures, and pray to my Heavenly Father to know if what I learned and studied was true. I spent many years learning, studying and praying. When I was 19 years old, I received a witness that the gospel of Jesus Christ was true. I know that Jesus Christ lived His life so that we would have an example of how to live, so that we can return to our Heavenly Father. He spent His whole life serving others and blessing the lives of all those around Him. He taught His gospel and established His Church on the earth. He appointed apostles and endowed them with the authority to act for Him. The scriptures testify of His divinity and of His atoning sacrifice for me. I am so grateful for the knowledge that because of His atonement, each day, even though I make mistakes and sin, I can repent and be forgiven and start over again. I know that in modern days that He again restored the fullness of His gospel to the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith. I know that Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon and that it is the word of God. I know that Jesus Christ atoned for my sins and that He died and rose again three days later. I know that He has a perfect resurrected body of flesh and bone and that He sits on the right hand of Heavenly Father. Because I know these things, because my Heavenly Father KNOWS I know these things, I can't be anything but a Mormon. If I denied the truth of them, I would fall under severe condemnation.

How I live my faith

I was born into the Mormon Church. I have parents who taught me that I have a loving Heavenly Father who wants me to return to live with him someday. I love my Savior Jesus Christ and know that it is only through him that I can return and live with my Heavenly Father. I know that it is through obeying His commandments that I can be worthy to live with Him and Heavenly Father. I am so grateful for the atonement of Jesus Christ and for the blessing of it in my life. It is so comforting to know that each day when I sin and make mistakes I can repent and be forgiven of them and go on and try to do better. Each day I try to serve my Savior by loving and serving my family and friends. I try to follow the Savior's example and be humble and teachable. I read the scriptures everyday and study the words of the living prophets. I try to be an example of the gospel to my children and grandchildren. I love to teach the gospel especially thru music. I love learning the gospel and sharing it with others.
