Hi I'm Matt

I grew up in Utah. Recent high school grad and I'm preparing to serve in the Mexico Monterrey East Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 19 and I grew up in Utah. I played football in high school along with a lot of other sports throughout my life. I love my friends, my family, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

Throughout my life I have always felt that the gospel is pure and good. As I grew older I developed questions and worries. I've always remembered the scripture James 1:5 which says, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." Just like the Prophet Joseph Smith I took this scripture to heart. I had been told to pray many times about the truthfulness of the gospel so that I can know for myself it is true. I would listen and do exactly that but I got nothing. I knew it needed to come from the heart and be full of purpose. Overtime and in my own time, when it was a very crucial time in my life, I felt a very real desire to know for the importance of my future and my salvation. I sat at the back of a lesson being taught by my bishop at youth conference. During the lesson I was being critical and just wanted to be done so we could all play games. I tried to feel the importance of the lesson but didn't so I said enough. I was sick of just thinking or hoping everything was true. After many other prays throughout my life, in the middle of the lesson with all the youth around I started a prayer. I pleaded to know the truth and to receive and answer and a testimony of the gospel. It felt so real and honest. Before I could even close the prayer I received the most amazing feeling in the world. I felt overwhelming peace and love from my Father in Heaven and with complete confidence I knew this Gospel is true. The feeling cannot be given justice through words. The gospel is so amazing and is such an anchor for us all. God loves us all more than anything and through our Savior Jesus Christ we can be forgiven for all of our mistakes and feel peace and love again. All the guilt is taken away and our minds can be at peace. I wish everyone could feel what I have felt. God is there and knows you better than you do. He will never give up on you. Don't give up. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!

How I live my faith

I feel such peace when I hometeach with my brother. We receive so many blessing and can give back to our God. It is helping me prepare for my mission.
