Hi I'm John

I was born Canada and raised in the UK. I am married with 4 children, 3 Grandchildren and work as a Mass Properties Engineer.

About Me

I enjoy spending time with my children and their families. My Grandchildren also bring much joy into my life and I enjoy seeing them grow and develop. We are a blended family so I enjoy also seeing my wife's children and Grandchildren. Our families are central to our lives and of course life always brings its challenges as well. There are anxious times as well as times to celebrate successes. It is wonderful to see any of our children or Grandchildren do well at something or overcome a challenge in their lives. As an Engineer I enjoy working in the Aircraft industry. It is great to see an Aircraft in flight and feel part of it. I have been involved with the design and construction of my home. It has taken longer than I would have hoped but it has been a learning experience. My siblings and their families live in North America so we see them less often but we make use of available technology to keep in touch. From time to time either they or us can make the journey for visits. Music is something we enjoy in our family. I enjoy playing Piano or Organ, but my children are more talented and is great to hear them both play and sing. Hopefully this is something our Grandchildren will also pursue. I enjoy the countryside and because our family is spread around we often have the opportunity to drive through both the English and Scottish countryside whilst making our visits.

Why I am a Mormon

I was brought up in this Church as my Maternal Grandparents were the first members in my family. As I grew up I had to make my own mind up about the things my parents taught me. Over time and through much prayer and study I realised that I had indeed been privileged to be born into a family that were members of the Lords True Church restored to us in these latter days. I have a strong faith in Jesus Christ as the Saviour of all mankind and despite my imperfections I strive to live up the ideals that I know to be right.

How I live my faith

In Church I participate by giving lessons and talks at Church meetings. I also visit other members in their homes and provide or arrange help with things that they may need. In the past I have been involved in Youth programmes, but I spend more time teaching others and spending more time on Family History research. I enjoy listening to the talks given by our Church Leaders and I feel very blessed to know that we have a living Prophet and Apostles who can teach us so much in our day. When I was a young man I served as a missionary for the Church when I was assigned to the England London mission. London was very different to the area of the country I was brought up in but it was both a challenging and exciting experience for me. I hope that when I retire I will also be able to serve again in some way along with my wife as a Senior missionary couple.
